It’s coming!!
Our annual Spring Celebration where we announce the PCNA Nurse of the Year 2017, celebrate
our scholarship award winners, and share the election results . We have a lot to celebrate with our recent Bowling Tournament, our education events, the retirement of several board members and much more! While this is the most hectic time of the year for us, it is also the most satisfying as our accomplishments, hard work, and successes are shared with our members . Please join us on May 12, 2017 at the Landmark Convention Center/Temple Theater to celebrate and honor our past . Last year we added a silent auction and photo booth which were both hugely successful so they are returning . We are hoping to have you, our members, join us to share, celebrate, honor our past and be part of our future!!
Mike Krashin, PCNA President
Wear your nursing pin! We would love all nurses to
wear their nursing pin, cap or cape to the banquet this year . While it may not be performed at every school, the pinning ceremony is a symbolic welcoming into the nursing profession . We’re excited to see pins, caps and capes from far and wide!

For many years, retired PCNA nurses have been invited to attend as our guests . With this year’s theme, we hope many retired nurses will join us . Do you know a retired nurse? Encourage them to join you for dinner. They can call the PCNA office or
use the online form to register for the dinner as a retired nurse .

Self Care...How do you honor yourself? How do you relax? If you have a free 10 minutes, how do you use that time to
recharge? Our days are full of demands— work, family, volunteer commitments . It can be difficult to get a real break.
We invite you to view the infographic 50 Ways to Take a Break (left) on the PCNA website. List the ways that work for you, focusing on things that don’t require any advanced planning .

People become nurses because they care about people—for their patients, their families and their communities . Pierce County Medical Reserve
Corps (PCMRC) and PCNA are joining forces to help serve our community . This is an opportunity to volunteer on several different levels, with time commitments to fit your individual schedule .
By joining PCMRC, you can volunteer in community centers, immunization clinics or disaster preparedness . This is an especially great opportunity for retired nurses to fulfill their continuing interest in caring for others.
Come join us! The Division of the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a national network of local groups of volunteers committed to improving the public health, emergency response, and resiliency of their communities . For more information and a volunteer application, visit the Pierce County Health Deptartment website:
