Introduction
IT564: Management Issues in Computer Sciences is a course that tackles the problems associated with the people, product and process dimensions of management, while emphasizing the importance of taking a moral stance in risky situations.
A professional interested in management must have the ability to take calculated risks in complete darkness. This course aims to introduce relevant techniques to the students so that they won’t be clueless when the time comes to face the music.

Provocative Questions
Every chapter has a few critical questions. When you try to answer these questions, you will learn something about yourself.
Summary
Every chapter is summarized in three sentences. You can follow these steps on your own when you are studying for the exams.
Topics
Every chapter has the same number of topics: 10. At the end, you should learn 60 things about management. This way, you’ll always know whether you are missing something or not.
Suggested Reading
During the course of the lecture I may point out additional reading materials. Best place to get them is Amazon, of course.
Video Clips
During the course of the lecture we may watch short video clips to emphasize what we have been talking about. Don’t forget to call your friends over and watch the whole movie when you go home.
Anecdotes
During the course of the lecture I may share anecdotes about my own experiences. Please don’t forget to share yours.
Street Smarts
Every chapter has tips on street smarts gathered during our startup endeavors. Don’t make the same mistakes and learn from our smart moves.
Pop Quiz
Once in a while, you’ll be given a pop quiz to see whether you have learned something from the previous lectures. These quizzes will force you to make an intelligent decision with limited information in a very short time.
Goals
At the end of every chapter you will be reminded of that chapter’s ultimate goal.
Before the adventure begins…
What level are you?
• Nobody, Developer, Analyst, Process Engineer, Manager?
• Nobody, Professional, Trainer, Consultant, Manager?
