5.1 Computer system

At the company of Confectionery Bogaert-Desmet, they use a server at the administrative department

because it makes it easier for their business contacts and it’s more effective.

They have opted for the Windows operating system.

They choose to use this system because they know that Windows is the best

known brand and that it stands for quality.

The company has 4 workstations available.

Currently they are in possession of an old computer installation but it will be

renewed by the end of December 2014.

5.2 Internet and application

In addition, they use the internet for business purposes only, especially surfing

and email is in their top 3.

They’ve created an email account to record all customer orders as well as

notifying the suppliers of new orders. Supplies can also be ordered via an

internet site. Because they only use the internet for these activities,

they have an ADSLL connection.

To make all of this possible, a part of the computers work a Telenet internet

connection.

5.3 Software

For word processing, they work with Microsoft Office Word/Excel. It is very

simple to learn how to work with it. Microsoft Office is also used to make

quotations.

Furthermore, they use DBFact data processing.

The company informed me that they will be purchasing the latest Office

package in the future because they are aware of the fact that working with type

2003 is no longer possible.
