Pradeep Vaiddya & Expression Lab:
Pradeep Vaiddya has been consistently active in theatre for last more than
23 years. He has worked as writer, director, set & light designer, music
composer, singer & theatre trainer.
He has to his credit some very valuable accolades such as Tanveer
Natyadharmee Puraskaar, Zee Gaurav Awards, Mahindra Excellence in
Theatre Awards (META).
Expression Lab is the unique theatre training workshop developed by
Pradeep Vaiddya. Recently 16th
batch of this workshop was completed
successfully.

Sunil Chandurkar & My Theatre Cafe
Sunil is the financial backbone of this event.
He has tremendous passion for theatre. His brainchild the
"MyTheatreCafe.com" has given opportunities to 100+ new artists and
produced around 65 performances across Pune, Kolkata, Mumbai and
Hyderabad. My Theatre Caf is also looked upon as a reliable online
resource about Theatre activities in Major cities of India.
Sunil being an IT professional himself he knows the importance of this
platform pretty well.

Mayureshwar Kale & Multimedia Tools:
Having mastered in HR, Mayureshwar Kale has been working as an actor,
director & light designer for theatre since last eleven years.
He is the owner and director of firms Multimedia Tools and FullHouse
Entertainment and Media Solutions since last five years; which are involved
in specialized brand strategy & design, corporate & cultural events,
exhibitions, advertising, video production & corporate gifting.
As an actor he has four short films to his credit and one of them was
nominated for Bussan film festival (2013).

WHY DOES THE LOGO SAY ITTHEATRE AWARDS?
This year we have planned the competition only for Pune and adjoining areas. Next
year we look forward to go National.
IN 2015 IN ADDITION TO PUNE IT KARANDAK, THE IT THEATRE AWARDS
COMPETITIVE FESTIVAL SHALL BE HELD ON ALL INDIA LEVEL.
IT KARANDAK WILL STILL BE ORGANIZED IN Pune as THE LOCAL EVENT. THIS WILLSERVE AS ONE OF THE LIMBS OF THE ALL INDIA LEVEL COMPETITION. THE THREE
WINNER TEAMS OF THE IT KARANDAK 2015 WILL GET WILD CARD ENTRY TO THE
FINALS OF THE NATIONAL EVENT IT THEATRE AWARDS FESTIVAL 2015.
THE NATIONAL ENTRIES IN ALL INDIAN LANGUAGES (ENGLISH INCLUDED) SHALL BE
ACCEPTED IN VIDEO FORMAT. AN EMINENT JURY PANEL WILL SELECT THE
FINALISTS. 12 ONE-ACTS WILL BE SELECTED AS FINALISTS FROM THE ALL INDIA
(VIDEO) ENTRIES.
3 WINNERS OF IT KARANDAK 2015 ALONG WITH THESE 12 FINALISTS WILL
CONTEST FOR IT THEATRE AWARDS 2015 IN A NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF ONE-ACT
PLAY IN ALL LANGUAGES.
THIS ALL INDIA FESTIVAL SHALL BE HELD IN PUNE ITSELF.
TO GENERATE THE MOMENTUM OF THIS MEGA EVENT WE HAVE LAUNCHED THE
AWARDS RIGHT AWAY AS IT THEATRE AWARDS 2014. LOOK FORWARD TO A
GREAT RESPONSE FROM THE IT SECTOR.

IT KARANDAK 2014
A UNIQUE ONE-ACT PLAY COMPETITION FOR
IT SECTOR COMPANIES
RULES & REGULATIONS:
1. ONE-ACT PLAYS with minimum duration
of 35 MIN can participate to represent a
company from IT sector. TOTAL TIME GIVEN TO each one-act play for set-up +
presentation + clean-up will be 65 MIN. TIME LIMIT SHOULD NOT BE
EXCEEDED. Only authorized employees / staff members from any unit / units
of / owned by a company can participate as any one of their teams not
overriding any of the considerations as described in the rules below.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE IS MANDATORY AND IS TO BE ISSUED
IN PRESCRIBED PROFORMA only. Non-IT staff of IT companies is allowed to
participate.
2. Only Marathi and Hindi scripts will be entertained. All one-acts will be
assessed as a part of one competition only. A company can send max 2 entries
for the competition Viz, one Marathi one Hindi or Two Marathi or Two Hindi
one-act plays.
3. Box Set CANNOT BE USED. The wings should not be covered with anything put
on them. The setting should depend more on set props so that the blackcurtain is NOT COMPLETELY blocked by the set. If specially designed flats are

used they should be used in such a way that they do not block the backside
black curtain and the height of such flats should be kept below 7 feet.
4. No on-stage artist from any one-act play will be allowed to be an on-stage
member of any other production across the entire competition.
5. All non-staff participants will be considered professionals. Maximum Three
such professionals per team (per one-act play) are allowed. A professional
director is allowed and shall be eligible to get an individual award for
direction category. No director shall direct more than one one-act plays in
the contest but can be involved in other technical departments for more than
one one-act play. IT IS MANDATORY FOR ALL TEAM MEMBERS TO CARRY
THEIR IDENTITY CARDS. PROFESSIONAL MEMBERS SHOULD BE ISSUED SPECIAL
I-CARDS BY THE COMPANY IN THE PRESCRIBED FORMAT. THE TEAM SIZE
INCLUDING TWO PROFESSIONALS SHOULD NOT EXCEED 20 MEMBERS.
6. All professionals within this framework WILL BE CONSIDERED ELIGIBLE for
individual awards in their respective departments.
7. All one-act plays should produce a. Original writer's permission plus b.
Permission by the writer who has done adaptation (if applicable) along with c.
The censor certificate issued by the Censorship body of the Maharashtra Govt.
8. Application form shall be available from 15th
May 2014. Last date of primary
submission along with Entry fees and deposit is 1st
June 2014. The date & the
slot of performance will be decided using lottery method. ALL TRs are
expected to be present when this is done. The date will be announced later.

9. Entry fee is Rs 7500 for each one-act play. Each company will get 25 free
tickets for each one-act play entered by them. THE ENTRY FEE INCLUDES ALL
THE CHARGES FOR THE TECHNICAL MATERIAL USED BY THE TEAM FOR THEIR
RESPECTIVE PRESENTATION. The list of technical material made available to all
the teams is provided in the Part Cof application form. THE TEAMS DO NOT
HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY PLATFORMS, BOXES OR SUCH SETTING MATERIAL,
LIGHTING DEVICES, CONSUMPTION CHARGES & PLAYBACK EQUIPMENT USED
FOR THEIR ONE-ACT PLAY PRESENTATION. In addition 2 season passes & 3 VIP
passes for presentation session are included in this entry fee . Entry fee to be
paid by a multi city cheque or DD only. If a particular one-act play is
cancelled the allotted 25 free tickets will become non-viable for entry to the
auditorium. When a one-act play is presented these 25 tickets can only be
used on specified seats in specified rows. These tickets shall bear a specific
color code and shall be valid only for entry to PARTICULAR ONE-ACT PLAY.
ENTRY FEE CHEQUE SHOULD BE DRAWN IN THE NAME OF EXPRESSION LAB
THE ENTRY FEE IS NOT REFUNDABLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
10.Each session will hold THREE one-act plays. A session pass at Rs 200 will allow
entry for ALL THREE one-act plays in a session. Season passes will ensure entry
for all the one-act plays. Season pass price will be declared later. Session /
Season passes will be kept for sale at the venue.
NO ENTRY TO THE AUDITORIUM AFTER THE THIRD BELL. THIS RULE SHALL BE
FOLLOWED VERY STRICTLY. NO COMPENSATION SHALL BE GIVEN TO ANYONE WHO
IS NOT ALLOWED ENTRY AFTER THIRD BELL.

11.List of Setting material & the map of Lights fixtures being supplied to all teams
are attached. Only 4 lights will be allowed to be used from foot or stand
positions apart from the lights in the plan provided. No light can be removed /
shifted from the position specified in the plan attached. Technical plan sheets
should be submitted one day before the performance. No additional payment
is to be done for any of the technical provisions mentioned in lists / plans
provided by us.
12.Each team (each one-act play) should appoint a person in charge of all
communication. This person will be called Team Representative. TRs will be
responsible for all communication, dealings etc between us and the teams.
Companies sending more than one entry can appoint one representative for
all of their entries.
13.Mentoring inputs may be provided if sought by participant companies at
extra costs. All type of Mentoring will be done in presence of a small audio-
video team who will capture entire length of the input meetings / workshops
for our records. Mentoring inputs schedule is as follows
Script Level mentoring - 2 to 8 June 2014
Production Level Mentoring7 to 13 July 2014
14.Decision/s of the panel of judges will be final. The assessment / any part of
their assessment won't be revealed by the organizers under any
circumstances. Judges will however be encouraged to be as transparent as

they could be. There will be a small feedback session between judges and the
director of each one-act after each performance.
15.Still photography and Video photography will be strictly prohibited.
Organizers shall have an official photographer appointed. Organizers will
hand over all the photos of each one-act play clicked by the official
photographer to the team representative.
16.If the performance requires Projector or any such additional technical set up
such teams WILL HAVE TO PERFORM FIRST (WITHIN THE THREE ONE-ACT
PLAYS) IN THE GIVEN SESSION. SUCH SET UP WILL HAVE TO BE ACQUIRED BY
THE TEAM AT OWN RISK. THE RIGGING, POSITIONING AND POWER SUPPLY
RELATED ISSUES SHOULD BE SORTED OUT ONE DAY BEFORE THE
PERFORMANCE WITH HELP OF THE STAGE IN-CHARGE & THE TEAM CO-
ORDINATOR.
17.Performing team should ensure THE SAFETY & SECURITY OF THE PERSONAL
BELONGINGS OF THE PARTICIPANTS & BELONGINGS OF THE TEAM, ALLEQUIPMENT BROUGHT BY THE TEAM & ALL PERSONS IN THE TEAM.
18.ALL PERFORMING TEAMS SHOULD ENSURE THE SAFETY & SECURITY OF THE
AUDITORIUM, AUDIENCE AND THE STAGE PROPERTY AND TECHNICAL
EQUIPMENT. FIRE, EXPLOSIVES, ANY KIND OF PAINT SPRAYS CANNOT BE USED
ON STAGE.
19.EACH TEAM HAS TO ENSURE THAT THE STAGE SHOULD BE HANDED OVER INTHE CLEAN STATE AS IT WAS RECEIVED. IF ANY AMOUNT OF GARBAGE, DUST,

WATER, LIQUIDS, MOISTURE, LEAVES, COLOURS (LIKE GULAL) ARE / GET SPILT
ON STAGE DURING ANY TEAMS PERFORMANCE THAT SHOULD BE CLEANED
