FUTBOL AMERICANO CON ROBERTO The Chicago Bears and offensive guard Roberto Garza teamed up with Cook County Commissioner Mario Moreno’s office and the Rauner Family YMCA to host over 200 children for a free, allday event, Futbol Americano con Roberto, on Saturday, June 17 at the new Rauner Family YMCA in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. Several of Roberto’s Bears teammates, including Brendon Ayanbadejo, Alfonso Boone, Jeremy Cain, Lennie Friedman, Brian Griese, Gabe Reid and John Tait, were also on hand to assist in the day’s many festivities.

The event kickedoff with a press conference where Roberto presented the Rauner Family YMCA with a check for $5,000 on behalf of the Chicago Bears to help them further develop their youth football program. The children then participated in a football skills clinic led by Pro Sports Experience, LLC, and attended educational seminars led by Bears staff members Bob Laskowski Fan and Stadium Services Manager; Jim Padgitt Broadcasting Coordinating Producer; and Mike White Events and Advertising Manager. They also had a great time participating in a seminar on nutrition, which featured a game called

“Eat Like A Bear,” led by Tom Finks, Executive Director of Pro Sports Experience, LLC. The day also featured more activities to promote healthy living, including free health screenings for parents. Each child who participated received a complimentary lunch, tshirt, goody bag and autographed picture of Roberto.

Many of the Chicago Bears community outreach programs support and celebrate the ethnic and cultural diversity that makes up the great city of Chicago. Futbol Americano con Roberto was designed to engage the Hispanic community in sports and healthy living. This event was meant to introduce children to the game of football through a youth football clinic and provide learning opportunities through educational and nutrition seminars. The children who participated in the event are members of the Rauner Family YMCA, which primarily serves Hispanic families living in the Brighton Park, Back of the Yards, Little Village, and Pilsen neighborhoods in Chicago.

HAPPY CAMPERS! The Bears are proud to have partnered with Pro Sports Experience,

LLC for the 3 rd straight year to present Chicago Bears Youth Football Camps, the official youth camps of the Chicago Bears. These week-long, non-contact day camps teach athletic skills, football skills, and life skills…and are a blast for all kids, ages 6 to 14 years old. Participants learn to run, throw, catch, defend, form block, form tackle, and explode out of a stance with proper technique and improved speed. With patience and encouragement, kids gain confidence…and that‛s what it‛s all about. Chicago Bears Youth Football Camps are led by professional educators with high school, college, or professional coaching experience. The camps are taking place in 22 Chicagoland communities during June and July. For more information, please call (312) 226-7776 or visit www.ProSportsExperience.com/Bears for a complete listing of 2006 locations and dates of Chicago Bears Youth Football Camps.

ROOKIES RALLY TOGETHER

The Chicago Bears 2006 Rookie Class joined together to support two local charities during the month of June as part of the Bears “Rookie Rally” program. The first was a home-build benefiting the Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity on Thursday, June 1. The rookies joined members of the Bears front office in putting up siding on two houses at the construction site. A family who will be moving into one of the houses in October was also on hand to assist in the

project. Habitat for Humanity homeowners are asked to contribute four hundred hours of “sweat equity” labor working on their house and the houses of others. Founded in 1988, RAHH has built 60 homes, and will be constructing seven new homes in 2006. This “Rookie Rally” outing was an extension of the Bears “Paws for a Cause” volunteer initiative, which addresses the need to help those less fortunate through hands-on volunteer efforts.

On Friday, June 16 most of the rookie class joined together again to assist at a Chicago Bears Youth Football Camp session at the New City YMCA in Chicago. The newest Bears players helped coach football drills and ran a scrimmage session before the campers headed inside for an awards ceremony at the conclusion of camp. Chicago Bears Youth Football Camps will run until the end of July. For more information on the Camps, please call (312) 226-7776 or log on to www.ProSportsExperience.com/bears.

These events were the first of four that the entire rookie class will participate in as part of the Bears “Rookie Rally” program. This program, which was created by the Bears Community Relations department, involves the team‛s first-year players, as a group, in charitable activities throughout the season.

A HELPING HAND The Bears are thrilled to announce that guard Roberto Garza is one of only four NFL players who were selected as an “off thefield” champion by the United Way in 2006. Roberto will be featured in a commercial titled “Doctor’s Waiting Room,” which will air nationally throughout the football season. The PSA features Roberto waiting in a doctor’s office to take a group of seniors home. When it’s time to leave, he realizes that he doesn’t have enough room in his minivan for all of the seniors in need of a ride. The spot is continuing with the “Lend a Hand” theme, which was launched in 2005 and conveys the message that the problems facing America’s communities are too large to be solved by one person alone. The three other players selected to star in the 2006 United Way commercials include Steelers safety Troy Polamalu, Jets linebacker Jonathan Vilma, and Cowboys safety Roy Williams. The new spots will debut during Week 1 of the 2006 season. Roberto Garza has been a fixture in the Chicagoland community since his arrival in 2005, and the Bears are proud to have him representing the Bears organization at the national level. Congratulations Roberto!

RUBEN‛S RUN The debut of the Ruben Brown Motorcycle Run in Chicago on Sunday, June 11 was a huge success!
