It all started in the year of The Virginia colony had really bad weather conditions, economic problems, such as tobacco prices, growing commercial competition from Maryland and the Carolinas. When all this was going on it made the Virginians very upset. They wanted to rage their anger out on someone so they attacked the Boer Indianan's. Later the Virginians found out that they attacked the wrong Indians, they wanted to attack the Susquenanaugs. After the attack of the wrong Indians, different Indians tribes begin to raid. The sufferings of the Virginians After the fatal attacks of the wrong Indian group, Berkeley set up a council meeting but it just turned into some of the tribal chiefs getting killed. Berkeley tried to restrained some of the colonist but Bacon would not listen at all. Bacon did not take Berkeleys order to seized some Indians that was disobeying the rules. Then the governor dismissed Bacon which got the Virginians thinking which one made the right choice. Bacon decided he wanted to become the general of all the forces against the Indians. Berkeley did not like that idea at all and kept refusing the offer. Bacon did not give up, he decided to get his men surrounding the statehouse, threatening to shoot several burgesses. Berkeley couldnt handle it anymore he finally gave in and gave Bacon what he wanted. Knowing Bacon was gaining more power he came up with his Declaration of the people on July 30, It stated how his cousin Berkeley always played favorites and tried to protect the Indians. Bacon was a really trouble marker and never mature how his dad wanted him to. He ended up burning down Jamestown to the ground on September 19, 1676. Bacon ended up dyeing on October 26 th from a disease called Bloody Flux and Loosey Disease known as body lice. Nobody could ever find his body. His soldiers may have burned his body. Shortly after Berkeley decided to take charge again and regained complete control and he hanged all the major leaders of the rebellion. An investigation took place a little while after from King Charles II, which had Berkeley sent home to England where he ended up dying in July The thing that we remember about this whole Bacons Rebellion is that the two cousins almost destroyed Jamestown. Nathaniel Bacon Jr. was actually Berkeleys cousin by marriage. Bacons father sent him to Virginia because he was a troublemaker, hoping that he would mature. When Bacon went to Virginia, Berkeley got a land grant for both of them, and a seat on the council. Bacon Governor Berkeley
