File management
The most important concept for you to understand is file management. You need to know how to:
Start a program Open an existing file Create a new file Save a file Save as a file Close the file Exit the program
A program is the software, a file or document is the data.

Open a file when…
You are looking for a file you already typed.
You have already saved the file.

this pull down arrow when
opening a file.
2. Next select your removable disk
which is your flash drive
3. The last step is to select the file you
want to open and click open

Save or “Save As” a file when… You have finished typing and you
want to put the file away.
You have made several changes and don’t want to loose them.

Move vs. Copy
You can move or copy: Text (words, sentences, paragraphs) Pictures Songs, movies Files Folders
Moving text erases the original
Copying text makes a duplicate

Highlight the text you want to move.

Don’t panic: The text will disappear.
