School Brilliance Award is assessed on to the below categories.

1. Vision and Values

2. Leadership and Management

3. School Culture

4. School Infrastructure/Environment

5. Love of Learning, and Learning for Life

6. Teacher and Students in the Classroom

7. Connections with the Community: Values and Resources

The Indian schooling system - particularly private school system has undergone tremendous changes in

recent times. As India has emerged as a global player, the aspirations and expectations from parents and

schooling community have shifted to demand a more far-reaching and holistic idea of education that prepares

students for life rather than careers. Even as the government school system struggles to adapt itself to the

needs a new workplace and a market driven society, and even while schools continue to be heavily tilted

towards academic achievement as a measure of schooling success, many schools have attempted to

introduce innovative approaches to teaching and learning that need to be recognized and endorsed. One way

in which parents and other stakeholders of the schooling system can understand school success is through

school awards.

What we are calling for is a shift in perspective regarding the goals and methods of measuring school

excellence. First, because we recognize that genuine change takes years and happens in small increments,

we want to evaluate processes rather than outcomes alone—more the journey than the destination. In this

context, the School Brilliance Award (SBA) becomes an important tool for a comprehensive self-

assessment that can point out areas for improvement and throw a spotlight on issues that are often hidden to

school policy makers.

Second, we want to set in place a series of rubrics that assess a more holistic idea of education. Here, while

one strand will evaluate effective leadership and management strategies adopted by the school, the SBA

departs from other well established awards such as the Singapore model to emphasize the importance of

community-based and civic engagements promoted by the school. Therefore, the SBA measures not only

academic quality of the school, but also extends upwards and downwards to include the head and heart of the

school organism.

Testimonials“I really enjoyed speaking at EDUTPRO INDIA – 2020|Hi Ed. Often in the dailynesses of our high pressure jobs we have no time to challenge our minds. Seminars like the ones that IBCI organizes gives me that space to doubt what I know and challenge what I believe, which is at the core of creative thinking.” - Arundhati Ghosh

Conferences like these are necessary to ensure that we get the best out of technology. I complement you for this great initiative and would urge you to conduct more such conferences in India and abroad – Harish Chaudhry

The mix of academics, practitioners and application developers who presented at the meeting was judicious and offered a useful platform for all those working in this difficult field of school education. My best wishes for the future – Amirulla khan

Attending and participating in the conference has been a very satisfying experience for me. This stems from a couple of factors that you have been very mindful of – The River Side school
