Gulliver meets on his first voyage. Lilliputians and Blefuscudians.

The Lilliptians, despite their small size, wield considerable power over Gulliver.

Lilliputians take advantage of him in Political intrigues of various sorts.

Lilliput is governed by a vain and despotic ruler who has his subjects tortured and executed for trivial matters.

3rd Voyage: Laputa

Page 9: Issue Of Power Politics in Gulliver's Travels

The Laputan king assumes that he has a right to hold power and Maintain politics because he is more devoted to abstract and theoretical knowledge than others.

They do not mistreat Gulliver to show power, but are generally unpleasant and dismiss him as intellectually deficient.

In the larger context of Gulliver’s journeys, the Laputans are a parody of the excesses of theoretical pursuits and the uselessness of purely abstract knowledge.

ConclusionGulliver does not approve of politicsGulliver remarks : The passion of

Laputians have for discussing politics is inversely related to how much they actual know about it – a common failing.

The Brobdingnagian King does. It's something else again to use politics and government as a way of getting jobs for your friends (the Lilliputian Emperor).
