Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, PRC must make a reasonable accommodation to allow a person with a disability to take part in a program, service or activity. For example, this means that if necessary, PRC must provide sign language interpreters for people who are deaf, a wheelchair accessible location, or enlarged print materials. It also means that
PRC will take any other reasonable action that allows you to take part in and understand a program or activity, including making reasonable changes to an activity. If you believe that you will not be able to understand or take part in a program or activity because of your disability, please let us know of your disability needs in advance it at all possible. Please contact
PRC at 602-253-6895.

Summer time Air Quality and YOU!
Summer is the season when the ozone in our outdoor air often reaches unhealthy levels. Ground level ozone is bad for everyone. Here is what we can do to protect ourselves and our air on our bad air days: • Limit time and activity level, especially during
afternoon and early evening • If you have respiratory problems, stay indoors
(Asthma) • Limit your driving • Avoid idling your vehicle • Fuel vehicles and equipment during the evening • Limit the use of fuel powered lawn equipment • Observe “No Burn” days • Don’t use materials (like paint) that give off a lot
of fumes • Watch the news for warnings “Health Watch”
“High Pollution” Advisory
For more information contact the Maricopa County Asthma Coalition, [email protected] or (602) 546-0338.

WITH EVERY HEART BEAT IS LIFE Did you know that cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the #1 killer of all Americans. Sadly one out of four Latinos and African Americans die of CVD. High blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, obesity, smoking, not being physically active and diabetes are all factors that increase a person’s risk of CVD. The good news is CVD is PREVENTABLE. You can lower your risk of CVD by making healthy lifestyle changes, getting your risk factors checked, seeing health care providers and following their
advice if risk levels are elevated. The “With Every Heartbeat is Life” Program offered at the HOPE VI Emmett McLoughlin Community Training and Education Center (CTEC) at 1150 S. 7th Ave is a heart health program. This program is designed to help people build skills to make practical, lasting changes to help fight cardiovascular disease through exercise, healthy eating and diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol education and living smoke free. For program schedule and to sign up for the WEHL Program please call (602)534-2043.
