c Dear Lawson Families, Principal’s End of Term message On behalf of everyone here at Lawson Public School, I would like to wish you and your families well for the mid-year break. Our students deserve our praise and recognition during these unprecedented times. I recently had the unfortunate task of announcing to our stage three students, that the upcoming school camp has been postponed. While I expected a number of long, drawn faces, I was pleasantly surprised to see quite the opposite! What ensued was quite a positive group discussion about the positives outcomes that continue to be the result of our shared approach to social responsibility. Students feel that their world continues to improve because we are all doing our bit to keep the spread of the Covid-19 under control, what resilience! Please see the list below of some of the activities allowed from the beginning of Term 3 All school sport and activities including competitions aligned with current health advice (including those activities run by external organisations) Inter-school student events and competitions (choirs, sport, debating, public speaking, performing arts, Selective Sports High School trials etc) Incursions not already permitted involving external adult providers maintaining distancing and hygiene aligned with the health advice of the day (eg school banking talks, sport promotions etc – not directly curriculum related) SRE/SEE volunteers P&C meetings – strong preference for on-line where possible Parent/teacher meetings – where these need to take place – strong preference for on-line where possible unless involving serious matters that require face to face discussion Parent/carer school pick up and drop off – arrangements should continue at the school’s discretion taking into consideration adult physical distancing requirements. Dear Lawson Families,

Principal’s End of Term message On behalf of everyone here at Lawson Public School, I would like to wish you and your families well for the mid-year break. Please see the list below of some of the activities allowed from the beginning of Term 3

School Banking We have been advised by School Banking that they will be temporarily suspending school banking and hope to resume in Term

3. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Uniform Shop The uniform shop is currently closed; however, orders can still be placed at the school office.

Permission Notes When returning permission notes for school activities it is a legal requirement to return a SEPARATE permission note for each child. If you pay online it is still necessary to return the permission note to the office. In addition, if returning multiple notes for more than one child/activity, there is no need to put each note into a separate envelope. We are able to process multiple payments for multiple activities/children in the one transaction. Please ensure your child/s full name and class are on the permission note

Lost Property Lost property is located outside of the School Office. We still have a considerable amount of clothing without names

clearly marked on them, lunch boxes and miscellaneous items to be reclaimed.

Clothing and lunchboxes are outside the office for collection. Personal items such as glasses, wallets, watches etc

are all held inside the front office. Any unclaimed uniform items will be sent to the uniform shop for resale and all

containers and drink bottles will be disposed of.

Aquanauts have been writing information reports on chickens as we await their imminent arrival at Lawson Public School . Here’s what we know: Sina: Chickens have feathers, claws and crests. They lay eggs which you can use in recipes or they could hatch into chicks if you have a rooster. Katelyn: Did you know that different breeds of chickens lay different types of eggs? Brenden: Chickens are good for your mental health. Tyla: They eat seeds and greens. Evangeline: Chickens will put themselves to bed. There are special types of chickens just for eating that don’t lay eggs. Logan: Diatomaceous earth kills mites and ticks. It is good to use it in the chicken coop. Caleb: Chickens have predators such as foxes, cats, dogs and other birds. Julian: Only chickens lay eggs, not roosters. They have dust baths. The way to stop foxes and feral cats is to have a bit of an underground fence and keep the chickens in a cage at night or when you go on holidays. Zena: Chickens are a close relative of the dinosaur. When roosters see a threat, they send out a cry that tells the other chooks to hide. Gus: You can use chook poo for fertilizer. Rhys N.: Females lay eggs and you can make scrambled eggs. Scarlett: Chickens can fly but farmers clip their wings so they can’t fly away. Isla: Types of chickens include Brahmas, Wyandottes, Frizzles and Naked Necks. Freya: Roosters can’t crow if they can’t stretch their necks. Lela: Chickens can eat veggies, clippings, chicken feed and grains.

magpie markets

We have been working hard behind the scenes to get our

markets back up and running.

This has been a long and in-depth process to make sure

we are complying with both council and NSW health

Covid safety rules and regulations.

We are hoping to be back up and running in time for the

August Markets. It will look a bit different and social

distancing rules will still apply to visitors and stall holders

but this is very exciting news. Stay tuned for more

information as it comes to hand.

uniform shop The Uniform Shop will operate via orders through the school office for

now.

Our space is very small and is not equipped to adhere to safe social

distancing rules.

We are hoping this will change throughout Term 3 but for now we

appreciate your co operation.

We hope everyone is staying safe and well

Have a great holiday break.
