Dear Parents/Caregivers Assembly Congratulations to Room 2 for their outstanding performance of the Rainbow Fish’. They not only remembered all the words but spoke clearly with lovely expression. The rainbow fish realised that he can make more friends by being kind and sharing instead of nasty and greedy. This is an important message for us all to remember. Our CROWN value of Nobilityreinforces this message from the story. When we display nobility, we accept and allow everyone to have their own feelings. NAPLAN The Year 3 & 5 students received their individual results from the NAPLAN tests sat earlier in the term. This was the first time that we had completed the tests online. Whilst we have not received our data that compares our school to our local schools and the state, the individual results look very good with many of our students matching or exceeding the state average. In Year 3, our school average in all areas exceeded the state average which is a phenomenal achievement. Some Year 5 students may be disappointed with their writing score. This is mainly due to the students having to type their narrative on the computer for the first time. We will be focusing on improving the studentstyping skills in preparation for 2020. Power of Positive Parenting—Screen Time On November 6th between 12.30-2.30, Tonia Fahey will be talking about screen time at Warriapendi for all families that are interested to attend. Screen time is the time your child spends using electronic media such as watching TV and playing on computers and phones. It is recommended that parents limit the amount of time spent on electronic devices because spending too much time on screens has been linked to not getting enough sleep, poor grades and a greater risk of obesity. I highly recommend you attend this discussion group to discuss this important issue effecting all our children. Congratulations to Yonga the Red Roos for being the overall winning faction on the day and to the students who received individual champion medals for achieving their personal best on the day. Congratulations to all the students that have read for 100 nights and have achieved a Lexile certificate. You can help your child become a fluent reader by;

Modelling fluent reading and then getting them to re-read the text on their own.

Having your child repeatedly read passages as you

offer guidance so that they achieve success.

On Wednesday 4th September, the “Kindy

Kings” and the “Pre-Primary Pirates” participated in their Sports Carnival. The wet weather cleared for the opening parade and the children enthusiastically joined in a variety of tabloid games. The morning finished with some running races which, much to the children’s delight, included some very keen Mums and Dads.

Life Education Van – Parent Information session

The Life Education caravan will be open from

8.30am to 8.45am on 17th to 19th September.

This is an opportunity for you to find out about

the topics your children will be covering during

their visit to the Life Education Van, and to meet

the Educator for an informal chat. You are

welcome to visit the van

at any time during this

session.

On Friday 13th September, Room 2 Pre-primary students hosted the school assembly. They re-scripted and performed the story "The Rainbow Fish". All students worked hard for many weeks making their costumes and learning their lines.

They also played a video they created to educate other students on interesting facts about sea creatures. The students reported interesting facts about Clownfish, Blue Tang Fish, Seahorses, Octopuses, Jellyfish, Sea Turtles and Whales.
