Pipefreezing at the Museum of London IPS Group Services Recent Projects No. 9 The Museum of London may display the history of this great city in its galleries but a lot also goes on behind the scenes in its basements, which we found when we were called in by Cofely Projects, via Epic Pipework, to assist in the repairs to damaged pipework. Working over the weekend, we froze a 150mm heating main in a very confined space in an old undercroft. Although the pumps and boiler had been shut down on the Friday night the ambient temperature was still too high on the Saturday morning to complete the freeze. All contractors agreed to return on the Sunday to successfully complete the project and minimise the impact on the gallery environment. Any further delays could have led to significant problems, with any drop in room temperatures causing decay to the artefacts and from further damage from the old pipework cooling down and then leaking. I have used IPS for several years. They are not the cheapest but with IPS nothing ever goes wrong. Every job is surveyed, a senior member of the team is on-site at the start of every job and its always resourced properly. A very professional service.
