DESCRIPTION

2015. March Issue #11 I am pleased to present this month’s issue of Israeli art market’s Magazine. This month we present the Group exhibition “Landscapes of my childhood” which leads us to go back to the sense of small details from our past, like a flower, the look of a mother looking from the window, shape and color of a building and the street as it remains in our memory. As the quote of great artists Edgar Degas (1834- 1917): “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” these artis made us feel their memory of childhood. These colors, smell and small pieces of memory created us the meaning of home, background, routs. Pesach is on our door, and we soon start the biggest sale event, especially from our new category on the site: Special Art For Collectors. A Showcase of the known and emerging artists in Israel. Excellent pieces of art. With worldwide free shipping. So don't forget the visit us on our Israeli Art Market’s Site. I wish you pleasant reading and enjoyment

Two New Exhibitions will open at Contemporary by Golconda on Thursday, 5 March.

On the ground floor, the exhibition "Jews" centered around Avital Geva's new installation project "Jews", that considers the image of the shofar, which blows organ compositions by Bach, choir singing and the voice of a cantor. These are not autonomous shofar images, but ones that specifically associate with the Jewish tradition, shofars that burst out their blowing sounds, calling out in the public sphere, sounding the voice of sanity – in these times of self-righteousness and boisterousness.

Geva's shofars occupy a space of local and contemporary contexts – which may be read as a critical challenge –emerging from within the art world against an arrogant and belligerent regime.

Geva's installation is augmented by Micha Ullman's installation, "Turnover", another inverted system of tunnels and passages. Ullman installs an overturned table which hollow legs signify a kind of invisible tunnel system, a parallel world that exists upside down, entrenched under the surface as a kind of maze system of tunnels.

Ken Kewley

Ken Kewley | Small Still Life IX

2015, acrylic on wood panel, 30.5 x 30.5 cm

Ken Kewley is a painter who reveals a serious and profoundly comprehensive engagement with the art and act of picture making. His work is possessed of a most astonishing quality: a primal joy, a continuing infatuation perhaps, with the very purpose of being the painter, of looking at art and making pictures.
