Venue

Over a thousand-year-old city of Gdansk is situated in northern Poland, at the point where Poland’s principal river, the Vistula, meets the Baltic Sea. The city with its Hanseatic tradition has played for ages a major role as a commercial, cultural and scientific center. The birth of the first independent trade union "Solidarity" at the Gdansk Shipyard triggered the avalanche that toppled communism in Europe.

Gdansk is part of the Tri-City agglomeration (i.e. the neighboring towns of Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia taken together) which approaches one-million inhabitants. Sopot is a beautiful seaside resort referred to as the pearl of the Baltic Sea. It enjoys wide sandy beaches, the longest wooden pier in Europe and the famous Forest Opera theatre. Gdynia is a young, but quickly expanding, delightful port situated right by the seashore, offering many tourist attractions as well as splendid shopping opportunities and a lot of entertainment.

The region has a mild sea-influenced climate, with the end of June usually being warm and sunny. Tri-City has a wide and varied accommodation offer. The conference hotels are located very near the sea or close to the historic part of Gdansk. The Lech Walesa airport is 8 km west of downtown Gdansk http://www.airport.gdansk.pl/. The airport offers convenient access to 27 European cities.
