Google applied for 101, Neustar for 234 and Amazon for 76 gTLDs. Amazon and Google applied in many cases for the same domain: .book .music .talk .wow
Who are the big players?
In June Google has revealed plans to launch Google Domains. The service is currently in beta phase. Google clarified that they won’t register or host domain names, but they will partner with companies like GoDaddy.com and eNom.com.

How you can get a domain?
If you are not a big brand and you didn’t apply for a gTLD don’t despair: You can buy a second level domain from the major domain registry (Godaddy, Neustar, Donuts)…for much less than $185,000!

.xyz is the new .com? Negari originally purchased XYZ.COM to create a complete web experience for businesses and individuals. While building XYZ.COM experience ICANN announced the launch of the new gTLD program. Negari pivoted the gTLD .xyz. In the first day of availability, .xyz had 17,800 domains registered placing it into 11th place among new gTLD registered.
