History of ISASI� ISASI originated in Washington, DC, when the

Society of Air Safety Investigators (SASI) was formed in 1964

� The leadership of the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), the predecessor to the NTSB, formed a “society” to elevate the role of ASIs a to a “professional” level

� SASI very soon became ISASI when similar societies in Australia, Canada, and Europe joined to form the International Society

History of ISASIFounding Principles - The primary purpose of the Society was to promote that part of the aeronautical endeavor wherein lies the moral obligation of the Air Safety Investigator to the public, and to promote the education of its members, of those directly associated with aeronautical problems, and of the general public concerning those problems peculiar to the work of the Air Safety Investigator

ISASI Reachout� ISASI Reachout workshops were designed to

bring knowledge and experience to different areas of the world, and to promote the objectives of ISASI to host organizations and ISASI members that may not regularly be in a position to attend the ISASI International Seminars

� ISASI Reachout workshops are designed to respond to regional safety needs – 41 ISASI Reachout Workshops have been organized

� Reachout is a non -profit workshop. The ISASI instructors volunteer their time and effort to make the workshop a success

The ISASI Rudolf Kapustin Memorial Scholarship (In memorial to all ISASI members who have died)

• PURPOSE:• To encourage and assist college-level students interested in the field of

aviation safety and aircraft occurrence investigation.• FUNDING:• The ISASI Rudolf Kapustin Memorial Scholarship fund is established

through donations and will provide an annual allocation of funds for the scholarship if funds are available.

• ELIGIBILITY:• Applicants must be enrolled as full time students in a recognized (note

ISASI recognized) education program, which includes courses in aircraft engineering and/or operations, aviation psychology, aviation safety and/or aircraft occurrence investigation, etc., with major or minor subjects that focus on aviation safety/investigation are eligible for the scholarship. A student who has received the annual ISASI Rudolf Kapustin Memorial Scholarship will not be eligible to apply for it again.
