ENVIRONMENT

NUTRITION
Geneticists and nutritious say that we have no ultimate control over our genes, but we have control over the environment and lifestyle we live. What we eat and put into our bodies
is simply what’s going to effect us on the outside.
“The number of kids affected by obesity has tripled since 1980,
and this can be traced in large part to lack of excercise and a
healthy diet.”
Obesity in Children
Many people In the United States that are con-sidered obese have a fam-ily history of weight and health issues. And children are becoming more vulner-able to this illness.
From 1980 to 2004, the prevalence of obesity among children quadru-pled, and the prevalence of obesity in adolescents more than doubled
EXPLORE
Researchers are often saying that obesity is “the most common chronic dis-order in childhood.”
How are we suppose to change these statistics and end the cycle of obese children? We need to bring awareness to this issue and find ways to help children and people. Let’s start by teahcing our children about the dangers of obesity.

EXPLORE
“There’s a strong genetic influence that occurs during the ado-
lescent years”
Genes
It seems that children’s genes are more suscepti-ble at a young age. Which explains why it’s easy for children to gain weight at a
very young age.
Experts have discov-ered that our genes play a part in our body mass. Our genes can influence how much fat we have in our body. However, these genes
often like to interact with the environment.
Geneticists say that we have no ultimate control over our genes, but we have control over the en-vironment and lifestyle we live. So essentially there is a genetic risk for obesity that we can’t control. However, it comes down to what type of healthy lifestyle we live.

“It has been shown that having obese parents increases both
the risk and severity of obesity in a child”
Environment
The environment plays a huge role on a child’s health. If they grow up in a home that eats unhealthy food weekly than that’s going to take a toll on their body.
There’s a substantial amount of influence on a child’s weight gain by their environmental factor.
If the child has obese parents than it’s very common that they will become overweight too. “It has been shown that having obese parents
increases both the risk and severity of obesity in a child”.
The environment relates with the type of lifestyle they have. If they sit in front of the television most of time than playing outside than that’s going to add to their caloric imbalance.

“One-third of obese preschool-aged children, one-half of obese
school-aged children, and 80% of obese adolescents become
obese adults”
Nutrition
Ultimately our diet and nutrients is what plays a dominant role on our health. Not to mention the amount of physical activity is very important.
The young adolescent mind is easily drawn towards many
influences during their age. Which is why parents must teach their kids the value of nutrition and physical activity.
Its time that we start making the right choices and demon-strate a healthy lifestyle for our children.
