Now and then the question arises! Is the Bible scientific? Or

perhaps it comes across this way, Well, the Bible isn't really

scientific you know. Ask anybody. It is practically common

knowledge. Or is it? Is the Bible a fourth rate book in the

fields of Science; or is man’s assessment of the Bible grossly

in error? Perhaps this is the real question!

If the Creator of the universe commissioned the writing of the

Bible, as the scriptures indicate He did, it would seem

reasonable to assume there might be a few things included in

the Bible that deal with the scientific nature of His creation.

Assuming, of course, that He understands the operating

principles of the universe He created! This is a safe

assumption, is it not? I mean, if He made it then He ought to

know how it works and of what it consists, wouldn’t you

agree?

The Bible says,

Let God be true, but every man a liar. (Romans 3:4) If we are going to ‘let God be true’ then we will have to

believe what He has put in His book. That means we will have

to RECEIVE the scriptures as the words of God.

1st Thessalonians 2:13 says,

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, YE RECEIVED IT NOT AS THE WORD OF MEN, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Obviously, if we cast doubt upon the words in the Bible we are

not receiving them as the words of God. If we are unsure if a

passage has been translated correctly or if we are concerned as

to whether the meaning of a verse has been obscured then we

are not receiving the words in the Bible as the WORDS OF

GOD.


Think about it. When you read the Bible, if you are not

absolutely sure what you are reading are the words of God,

preserved for you to read, as He wanted you to read them, then

you are receiving those words as the fallible words of men! In

your mind you have doubts about the authority of those words.

I believe my point is made so let’s go ahead and get started

now.

A Brief History Of The Bible First of all, let's consider a few of the facts surrounding the

formation of the Bible. The most recent book of the Bible

(The Book Of Revelation) was written in 96 A.D. This was

about 1,900 years ago. The oldest book of the Bible (The

Book Of Job) was written approximately 2000 B.C., which

was almost 3,900 years ago. A little easy figuring reveals that

the books of the Bible were written over a period of time

spanning almost 2,000 years!

The Bible has 42 different human authors who wrote a

collection of 66 different books of scripture; and these 66

books were written on 3 different continents, Europe, Asia and

Africa; and were composed in at least 3 different languages,

which were Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. Now, take a minute

and let that soak in real good.

Think about it! 2,000 years, 66 books, 42 authors, 3 continents

and 3 languages. Wow! No other book in existence has a

history anything close to it. Not one original manuscript of

any single book remains and yet God has collected it,

preserved it, and given all of it to us under the cover of a single

book, which we call “The Holy Bible”!

Can you imagine that? To the natural mind it seems

impossible, but is anything too hard for the Lord? Untold

millions of people spanning thousands of years will testify that

it is true; the Bible is, in fact, exactly what it professes to be.


It is the preserved and infallible word of God, to His creation,

man. In a court of law, the sworn testimony of a witness is

considered true until proven otherwise. And all around the

world this method of jurisprudence is accepted as solid

evidence. This makes the Bible’s claim of being the word of

God the most widely documented fact in the world today.

What else can claim the sworn testimonies of hundreds of

millions of people over the course of thousands of years, after

having been personally and thoroughly examined by each

person testifying? The answer, of course, is NOTHING!!!

A Little Ground Work

The Bible talks a lot about faith, and Hebrews 11:6 says,

But without faith it is impossible to please him (God that is).

God wants us to believe in Him and to believe what He says.

However, some people get that confused with gullibility,

which is nothing more than blind faith, and God does not

expect us to believe anything blindly. On the contrary, the

Lord has given us an abundance of proofs to help bolster our

sagging faith! It is some of these proofs that this little booklet

offers for contemplation.

As we approach this subject let's remember the Bible was

written a long time ago to help guide the multitudes of people

who have trusted it over the past few thousand years.

Consequently, it was important that it be written in a way

which would allow people from ancient times, as well as

modern times, to understand it. In other words, it does not

contain many modern technical terms, but instead is written in

a common everyday language that people throughout time

could understand. Let's keep this in mind as we examine the

following pages.


Science? According to Webster's Dictionary, SCIENCE is defined as, a

possession of knowledge as distinguished from ignorance or

misunderstanding.

If we reflect on this definition for a moment, we will

immediately realize that much of what we commonly consider

modern science can not truly measure up to this definition.

This is evident in the fact that there are a great many things

that scientists are ignorant of because they simply do not yet

possess the means or technology to gather the information that

is lacking in those areas. Equally true then, is the fact that

modern science is no doubt in a state of misunderstanding on a

great many subjects simply because of the present inability to

properly understand them.

Don't get me wrong. I am not taking a harsh stand against

science. I just want to make sure we recognize that scientists

have not figured everything out yet! In fact, history has shown

that the scientific community can be quite wishy-washy. Over

the years they have on innumerable occasions changed their

position about what was considered scientific. Therefore, God

has seen fit to warn us to:

...avoid profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of SCIENCE falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith.

(1 Timothy 6:20-21)

The above scripture points out that science can:

1) be profane (having contempt for sacred things)

2) be vain (having no substance)

3) be in opposition to faith in God, and

4) be just plain FALSE.

You will notice that the issue has come into focus for us. The

real issue is TRUTH! Who has it, God or the scientists? In a

clever way, God has kind of backed us (mankind) into a corner


because the Bible says we are to,

Let God be true, but every man a liar; (Romans 3:4)

Knowing this, it becomes obvious that when the Bible and

the current scientific theories differ on an issue, we will have

to believe what the Bible says if we intend to let God be true.

In 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 the apostle Paul warned:

...for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

The issue is TRUTH!!!

So, let's see whose court the ball of truth has been in over the

past few thousand years. There are many fields of scientific

inquiry so we will simply look at a few of the major ones.

Let's turn to the word of God at this time and see if the Bible

could have shined any light on the past teachings of science,

you know, the part that is falsely so called.

Astronomy - The science of the celestial bodies. Many ancient astronomers have tried to count the stars and

before the invention of the telescope it appeared as though

there were only about 1000 stars in the sky. Johannes Kepler

(1571-1630 A.D.) counted 1005. It is now estimated that the

total number of stars visible to the naked eye, from every point

on earth is about 4,000. Yet in Genesis 22:17 we find God

comparing the number of the stars of heaven with the number

of the grains of sand which is upon the seashore. Modern

astronomers have come to estimate this number to be 10 to the

26th power.

That is 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.


For all practical purposes, Jeremiah 33:22 is completely

accurate when it says,

The host of heaven cannot be numbered. This information was provided to man around 600 B.C. But

the Bible is not finished yet. Look at 1 Corinthians 15:41

where Paul is telling people living in 50-60 A.D. that

...one star differeth from another star in glory. Come to find out, Paul was right. We now know that there are

Pulsars, Quasars, Red Giants, Yellow Dwarfs and more. Not

to mention that each is as different as our own fingerprints!

How about another one?

Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not. (Job 25:5 - 2,000 BC)

Right again, because the moon just appears to be shining when

in fact it is really a reflector that is illuminated by the sun.

Do you remember hearing how they told Columbus he was

going to sail off the edge of the world because it was flat? Not

so, according to the word of God. Approximately 750 BC

Isaiah wrote that God, ...is he that sitteth upon the CIRCLE

of the earth. (Isaiah 40:22)

Are you aware that at one time many people actually thought

the earth was carried about on the back of elephants? Once

again the Bible was contrary to the commonly accepted

teachings of the day because it informed us that God,

...hangeth the earth upon nothing. (Job 26:7)

In Job 38:31 God wants to know if Job can

...loose the bands of Orion. Did you know that the constellation of Orion is known as a

true star group. Unlike most other constellations, all of its

stars are moving together in unison as though they were

connected to each other by bands.


So, the Bible seems to have a 21st century scientific

understanding of astronomy! You may say, Well, that's not so

amazing, we already knew all of those things. Yes we did,

however, nobody knew those things 2,000 to 4,000 years ago,

did they? No one, except of course, God!!!

Biology - A branch of knowledge that deals with living

organisms.

The invention of the microscope has shown us that the blood

in our bodies is actually teeming with life. It contains such

things as white blood cells which fight infection, red blood

cells which carry oxygen to the rest of the body and then of

course there are platelets which clot to plug up the damaged

areas of our bodies so that we do not lose all of our blood

when we get injured. Like God said,

...the life of the flesh is in the blood. (1500 B.C. in Leviticus 17:11)

William Harvey figured this out in 1616 A.D. and filled the

scientific community in on the fact that blood actually

circulates through our bodies.

God gave the Israelite people a strict code of laws for them to

observe and it is interesting to note how scientifically

advanced some of these laws were, and in fact, still are. In

Leviticus chapter 11, God told Moses what animals the

Israelites were allowed to eat in their daily diet and pigs

specifically were excluded from the menu. Did you know that

pork contains Trichina, which is a small parasitic worm, and if

you do not cook your pork thoroughly these little worms may

invade your body and feed on your voluntary muscle system?

This applies to rabbit too, but rabbit was forbidden in their

diets as well.


In Leviticus 7:23-24 God told them,

Ye shall eat no manner of fat. It is interesting to note that we are now told that too much fat

in your diet can lead to a high cholesterol count,

arteriosclerosis and heart disease.

Deuteronomy 14:21 says,

Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself. And of course, food laws in this country also prohibit the sale

of meat from animals that die of disease. That is because

modern science now knows that the carcass of a dead animal

can harbor fleas, ticks and lice; and we know all of these to be

carriers of diseases such as bubonic plague, and spotted and

typhus fever.

The need for human waste disposal is addressed in

Deuteronomy 23:13. 3,500 years ago the Jews were told to

bury their waste with a paddle or shovel. This one procedure

alone would have gone a great distance towards eliminating

typhoid and paratyphoid fever throughout the centuries.

Long ago the Bible taught the concept of medical quarantine as

can be seen in Leviticus 13:45-46. People who had the ancient

infectious disease of leprosy were to cry out Unclean, unclean to warn others of their disease. Furthermore, they

were to dwell alone outside the camp to reduce the risk of

spreading it to other people.

In Leviticus 14:1-9 God gave Moses the directions for

returning a leper, who had recovered from his condition, back

into the camp. If you read it you will notice the emphasis

placed on washing their bodies and their clothes. Scientists are

now very much aware of the need for cleanliness when dealing

with sick people. This knowledge has developed into a

medical procedure called sterile technique in which every

effort is made to control the spread of germs.


In the 14th century the Israelite people were virtually

unscathed by a plague called the Black Death that swept

through Europe and Asia. Why? Because they were obeying

the Old Testament commandments regarding cleanliness and

washings which can be found in the book of Leviticus.

Millions of people needlessly died during the plague of the

Black Death because of the poor medical techniques practiced

by the doctors and because of the bad hygiene on the part of

the general population!

We can cap off our look at this field with some really up to

date information. In Leviticus 7:26 God said,

Moreover ye shall eat no manner of blood. A few items that appear in the news these days are Satanism,

Vampirism and the AIDS epidemic. These devout occult

worshippers drink human blood as part of their religious

worship and AIDS, of course, can be transmitted through

blood. Folks sure can get themselves into quite a mess by

defying God, can't they?!!! Fortunately we have this up-to-

date King James Bible to help keep us straightened out so we

can avoid these things.

Chemistry - A science that deals with the composition,

structure, and properties of substances and of the

transformations that they undergo.

Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime: (Amos 2:1)

How is your chemistry? Were you aware that both lime and

bone consist of calcium carbonate? Not bad for about 775 BC.


Ezekiel 22:18-20 gives us an accurate description of refining

metals such as silver, iron, lead and tin.

Also, in the Proverbs we are told that a chemical reaction

occurs when you mix an acid (vinegar) with a base compound

such as natron, otherwise known as sodium carbonate (nitre).

As vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart. (Proverbs 25:20)

When vinegar contacts the nitre it fizzes and sends up an acrid

or irritating odor. The proverb indicates that this chemical

reaction is similar to an unsaved man who is willfully deluding

himself into believing his spiritual condition is good when, in

fact, he is hell bound.

Friends, we don't need to send a foul smell up to God! Just

accept the free gift of salvation which is offered through the

Lord Jesus Christ and He will willingly give you “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding” which is

described in Philippians 4:7. Such peace is available to you if

you truly want it!

Cosmology - A field of study that brings together the

natural sciences, particularly astronomy and physics, in a

joint effort to understand the physical universe as a unified

whole.

Modern astronomers have observed that the entire universe

appears to be in motion. And not only that, but it appears to be

expanding as well. This information has led to the well known

Big-Bang Theory as an explanation for the origin of the

universe. It is reasoned that if the universe is expanding then

its expansion must have begun from a particular point in space.

It is further theorized that this particular point in space, at one

time, must have contained all the mass in the universe. This is

envisioned to be much like a ball although some go as far as


to call it a dot! When this dot exploded it distributed its matter

outwardly in all directions. This theory has been amended by

some to suggest that there never really was a specific center of

the universe as was previously postulated; instead, it is

suggested that the Big Bang may have incorporated the whole

of the universe at one time, as opposed to a specific and

centrally located area.

The only thing that many of these scientists can seem to agree

upon is that parts of the universe seem to be expanding away

from other visible parts of the universe and that God had

nothing to do with it! Now, all of this scientific reasoning

about the origin of the universe fails to address one very

important issue.

WHERE DID ALL OF THIS MATTER COME

FROM WHICH THEY KEEP TELLING US WENT

“BANG”?!!!

This is an important question, since physics indicates that

MATTER SIMPLY EXISTS. THERE IS NO SCIENTIFIC

EXPLANATION WHICH CAN BE OFFERED FOR ITS

PRESENCE. Therefore you are left with one of two choices.

1) Either God made the universe, or

2) Everything you see, feel, touch, smell, hear and

taste, as well as your very existence, and the

existence of everything else in the entire universe,

is a colossal COINCIDENCE!!!

Now, if you can believe in a coincidence of THAT magnitude,

then you have a lot more faith than it takes to believe in

salvation through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, because

God has given us proof that His word is true! That is what this

little booklet is all about. God would not dream of asking us

to believe in something that He was not willing to substantiate.

If we want proof all we have to do is turn to His word and read

it. Sooner or later, one field of science or another will back it

up!


We are told in Romans 1:18-22 that,

...the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shown it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

Actually, we do not even need science to substantiate these

things because the creation, as well as we ourselves, testify to

the fact that God made all things, whether we want to admit it

or not. Anyway, let's return to our study and examine the

expansion of the universe.

Hebrews 11:3 tells us,

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God.

When we turn to the actual account of this in Genesis 1:1-2:25

we find that God actually spoke creation into existence by

saying, “Let there be …”. Now, let's consider this next to

Isaiah 55:11 where God says,

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Notice that God’s word goes forth to where He sent it and

that it does not return but instead prospers and accomplishes what He wants done where He sends it.


Think about how it is when it is cold outside and you breathe

out heavily. You can see your breath. Recall how it leaves

your mouth and goes out; and as it goes out, it spreads out

until it just disappears to wherever it is that it is going. This is

the way that God’s word is except,

...the word of the Lord endureth forever. (1 Peter 1:25)

When the word of God goes forth creation has no choice but to

respond to His command; unless of course all of creation is a

COINCIDENCE! No, we can easily understand through the

pages of scripture why the universe would be expanding. It is

because God’s word is in a continual state of going forth to

accomplish the tasks that He has sent it to do!

We will get deeper into the nature of God’s word when we

examine physics; but for now, we will examine some of the

ways that His eternal power and Godhead have been shown

to us.

God is a Triune (3 part) Being. Because of this He has made

His creation in a way that reflects this unique attribute. We

will call it the Tri-Universe. Science reveals that the universe

is a trinity of trinities. It is a marvelous representation of its

Creator Who has manifested himself in three persons; God the

Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

Some people maintain that this does not make any sense.

They argue that 1+1+1=3, not 1. However, they simply

misunderstand the triune concept. We would liken a trinity to

an egg. An egg has 1 shell, 1 white and 1 yolk. All three are

egg, but neither is an egg in itself. Therefore, the proper

mathematical equation to use when describing a trinity would

be l x l x l = l. This is the exact nature of the universe!

Reality, as we understand our tri-universe, is an interaction of

3 things; time, space, and matter. Space, is the eternal and


invisible background of all things, and continually manifests

itself through the presence of Matter and/or energy which are

then experienced and understood through the concept of Time.

To remove either of these three elements from the universal

equation would leave the universe completely nonfunctional!

Now let's consider each individual part of the universal trinity.

Space, has three dimensions consisting of length, width

and height. If only two of these dimensions existed

space would not exist and therefore reality would not

exist.

Time, consists of 3 parts: past, present and future. All

three are required for time to exist.

Matter, is (1) energy showing forth itself through (2)

motion and then experienced through the (3)

phenomenon it generates. The phenomenon, motion

and energy must all be present for the existence of

matter.

Are you aware that the rays which bombard this earth are

either Alpha, Beta or Gamma rays? Three types!

What about the Bible we have an Old Testament and a New

Testament, but where is the third part that is needed to make it

complete? John 1:17 says,

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

This describes the two written testaments previously

mentioned, but where is the missing part? Well, if we look at

John 1:1 & 14 we will see that what is missing is Jesus Christ

himself. He is the word of God which came in the flesh. You

see, there are only two testaments in print. The Bible says in 1

John 5:7,

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.


The missing testament is Jesus Christ and without a doubt we

need Him. But have you considered this? If one of the written

Testaments (Old or New) didn't exist, how complete would

your knowledge of Jesus Christ be? Could you fully

understand Who He is and why He came to do what He did?

Of course not! God knew we needed all three Testaments,

therefore all three Testaments have been given!

Man is suppose to be a trinity as well, but we are somewhat

defective. We are composed of a Body, Soul and Spirit; but

since we are born in sin we have the wrong spirit. We have a

dead spirit. That is why Jesus said ye must be born again

(John 3:3-8). We must be born of the Spirit.

Before we move on to the next field of science, let me point

out a few more trinities.

There are three colors of Solar light - Blue, Yellow and

Red.

The sun manifests itself in the form of light, heat and

chemical (actinic) radiation.

In nature there are three kingdoms, which are Animal,

Vegetable and Mineral.

And matter exists in three forms, which are, Solid, Liquid

and Gas.

Geophysics - The study of the natural sciences of the

earth.

Take a moment to consider the wind patterns and water cycles

mentioned in Ecclesiastes 1:6-7 which Solomon wrote about

over 3,000 years ago.

The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about


continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits. All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.

Notice how the text says the wind goes toward the south and

returns again unto the north, according to its circuits. It was

not until statistical information spanning the northern

hemisphere to the tropics was gathered that meteorologists

were able to establish a reasonable theory on world air

currents. The Bible, this time under the writings of Solomon

in 1,000 BC, was once again correct. Winds do move toward

the south because the warmer climate there causes the heated

air to rise. After this air rises and cools while flowing north, it

once again is drawn back toward the south to be heated

according to his circuits.

The above scripture also shows the pattern of the earths

water cycle. Water evaporates from the sea and is then

precipitated as rain, snow or hail, which in turn is drained off

into ground water or river systems which run back into the sea.

Just as Solomon said, Thither they return again.

OK, let's examine something less observable this time. In

Matthew 12:39-40 Jesus tells us,

An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Moreover, in Ezekiel 26:20 we find that there are low parts of the earth that are referred to as the pit and the direction of

the pit is down. To complete the picture, we can turn to

Isaiah 14:15 where we find God telling Lucifer,


Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Here we see that the pit is hell and it is located in the heart or

lower parts of the earth. The most obvious thing you might

consider at this point is that Jesus was saying He was going to

spend three days and three nights in HELL. The reason for

this is so you and I will not have to, unless we insist on it!

And I am not going to. Now, you can insist on it if you want

but do not expect to get out in three days. That only happens if

you are the sinless Son of God! If you want to avoid HELL

like any rational person would then make a sincere decision to

accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. To help you

out, at the end of this booklet you will find an opportunity to

do that very thing.

OK, we discovered that HELL is located in the heart of the

earth and is described as being a pit which has sides. Now,

we all know that hell is burning hot (Luke 16:24) and therefore

very undesirable, but tell me this, why is it only said to have

sides? Take a moment to consider that. What condition must

be present for all directions to appear as though they were

sides? It is the condition known as zero gravity, of course!

Scientists now understand that at the earths core zero gravity

must exist because of the centrifugal force that is present

there. However, this is old news to anyone 2,500 years ago

who took their Bible literally and accepted it as completely

accurate! Once again, the word of God was waiting more than

two millenniums for science to play catch up!

If you have been paying attention, you have no doubt noticed

that a trend has been developing. At this point, we have

examined five major scientific disciplines and every time the

results have been: The Bible batting 1,000 and the Knowledge

of Man batting 000. What is the problem? Or more

accurately, if man’s wisdom is so superior, “WHERE'S THE


BEEF?” as the old hamburger commercial asked. Don't get

me wrong. I like science and technology as much as anybody

and I enjoy modern conveniences as much as the next guy;

however, I am not foolish enough to confuse technological

advancement with something as important as Wisdom or Truth.

Not long ago I saw a TV program where some monkeys were

using a stick to dig bugs out of a hole so they could eat them.

Now, I realize this may be pretty sophisticated behavior for a

monkey, but using a stick for a tool does not make you an

engineer! Or does it? Well, it doesn't if you are looking for a

job but they seem to want you to think it does if you are sitting

in a college biology classroom. You do know that Cheetah

only looked smarter than Tarzan because it was written in the

script, right?

We are going to turn up the heat a little now. We are all

finished with the Small Arms fire so it’s time to get out the big

guns -a little of the Heavy Artillery. I want you to see that the

word of God can bat 1,000 in the big leagues too!

Physics - A science that deals with matter and energy.

The First Law of Thermodynamics, otherwise known as The

Law of Energy Conservation, indicates that energy can be

changed from one form to another but it cannot be destroyed

and IT CANNOT BE CREATED! We have immediately hit a

snag. Suddenly you have a choice to make; because the very

existence of everything in the universe is scientifically

impossible. You must therefore choose to either believe that

the universe was formed by the divine intervention of God or

that everything in existence is here by an impossible

coincidence! My friend, God has successfully backed you into

a corner. If life could be likened to a game of Chess then you


were born in Check Mate. To reject the existence of God you

must abandon all logic as well as scientific fact. The Law of

Energy Conservation proves that the universe could not have

created itself, for it is obvious that SOMETHING cannot come

from NOTHING.

In Genesis 2:1-3 we read,

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Look also at Nehemiah 9:6 which states,

Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.

The above two passages of scripture easily explain the

reason for the First Law of Thermodynamics.

First, as shown in the Genesis passage, God is finished and

no longer in the business of creating at this time, and;

Second, the reason that energy cannot be destroyed is

because God preserves His creation. This preservation is

also shown in Hebrews 1:3 where we are told that God is

...upholding all things by the word of his power.

The Bible has just addressed the reason for the Law of

Energy Conservation; why is it that science cannot do the

same, but rather is limited to just acknowledging it is an

apparent law of natural physics?


The Second Law of Thermodynamics indicates that all

natural processes have a tendency to advance toward chaos.

This is known as The Law of Energy Decay. It means that

material things deteriorate and biological things return to dust.

Anybody who has lived any length of time at all has found this

law to be true. However, this law of physics flies right in the

face of cosmic evolution, which teaches that the universe made

itself and is continuing to increase in complexity.

Evolution is therefore in opposition to the First and Second

Laws of Thermodynamics. Not so with the Bible! God’s

Book teaches that the quality of creation is deteriorating, just

as these laws would indicate. In Psalm 102:25-26 David says,

Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

The Law of Energy Decay shows that eventually, the

universe will wind down like a wrist watch and die, and the

word of God substantiates this principle. God, however, is

gracious, and has promised that He will make a

...new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness. (2 Peter 3:13 & Revelation 21:1)

The question is, are you going to be there?

Let's examine the nature of matter itself. Everything we see is

made up of molecules, which are made of atoms, which are

made of protons, electron and neutrons, which appear to be

made of things called quarks and neutrinos; and on and on and

on it goes and where it stops nobody knows! Unless of course,

you happen to believe the Book!


The more man studies matter, the more we realize that matter

continues to break down into increasingly smaller particles.

Ultimately it seems to disappear altogether. This has led some

scientists to suggest that at some point in the breakdown of

matter, it ceases to be matter at all, and instead becomes

something SPIRITUAL!!! But then, here we are again back in

Bible territory! The Apostle Paul told us in Hebrews 11:3 (1,900 years ago),

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

In other words, the things we see are made of things that we

can not see! It could not be said any simpler! Paul has just

given us an excellent description of molecular structure,

atomic and subatomic particles! Not to mention the fact he is

pointing out that the underlying force which gives substance to

everything in existence is THE WORD OF GOD!!!

In Psalm 33:6 King David said it this way,

By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. (1,,000 BC)

No wonder matter breaks down until it disappears. At its most

basic level it once again becomes the breath of God! Are you

noticing how the Bible always has a simple answer for these

complex scientific problems? The Bible has just concurred

with the findings and given an explanation for two of the most

reliable and basic laws of modern physics. Common

knowledge would lead us to believe that the Bible is not

capable of expressing this type of scientific analysis. Has

someone been feeding us a line? Why haven't we been told

that the Bible is an accurate scientific authority? Well, the

biggest reason is because science is just now catching up to


where it is able to substantiate what the Bible has been

maintaining to be true for thousands of years.

Furthermore, the Book tells us that in the last days just before

the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, men will be,

Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:7)

And then in Daniel 12:4 the scriptures say that,

Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Think about it. In the past 100 years man has developed 95%

of the worlds technology. In the last 100 years man has gone

from the horse and buggy all the way to the moon. We now

have satellites that have left our entire solar system and Space

Shuttle missions have become almost routine. Computers that

would once have filled buildings have now been reduced to fit

into a wrist watch. But look around you. People are going to

and fro like they never have before and man is ever learning and without a doubt knowledge is increased, but in all this,

mankind just cannot seem to come to a knowledge of the truth

of God. How sad. We seem to have traded God for gadgets!

It is time to quit playing around and bring our study to a

conclusion. This being the case, it seems appropriate to end

with a topic that science can not even begin to explain.

The SECRET things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are REVEALED belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. (Deuteronomy 29:29)

This scripture shows us two things.

First of all, it shows us there are some things which

mankind will not figure out because God has decided those

things will remain secrets known only by Him.


Secondly, it shows us there are things which God has

decided to reveal to us; and the reason He has revealed

these things is so we can live according to His word.

The Scriptural principle is:

...faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17)

Once we are exposed to God’s word we are able to have faith;

and in turn our faith is able to help us live in accordance with

His word.

We are told in the book,

...it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to SAVE THEM THAT BELIEVE. (1 Corinthians 1:21)

And in Numbers 23:19 we read,

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

There are a great many things contained in the word of God;

some in the past, some present and some things in the future.

The Bible has foretold literally thousands of events. Some of

these events have come to pass already, and others are coming

to pass now. Still more of these things will be fulfilled at

some point in the future.

Parapsychology - A field of study concerned with the

investigation of evidence for telepathy, clairvoyance and

psycho kinesis.

We will be looking specifically at clairvoyance, or more


precisely at Precognition, which is simply to know

beforehand. The student of the Bible will recognize this field

to be the same as Prophecy and as most people know, the word

of God contains a great deal of prophecy.

Revelation chapter 19 verse 10 tells us that

The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. This is important since it gives us the reason for God telling us

about things before they happen. The reason for prophecy is

simply to give proof. It is a testimony for the reality of the

Lord Jesus Christ, and we are told that salvation comes ONLY

through faith in Him.

Now, concerning Himself, God says,

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: (Isaiah 46:9-10)

So, we can see that there is NONE like God Who is able to

declare the future before it happens. There are many who try

to predict the future but the vast majority of their attempts end

in complete failure and that which does appear to come to pass

is usually vague and generally applicable to a variety of

situations. This is not the case with the Bible. The Bible is a

precision instrument; a textbook of past, present and future

history. It is the only authoritative source of information for

events which have not yet happened.

Many people consider the 16th century French astrologer

Michel De Nostradamus (1503-1566) to have been one of the

greatest Seers who ever lived. These people even believe he

foretold the rise of Nazi Germany under the leadership of

Adolph Hitler; although in his book entitled "Centuries" the


name was misspelled to read “Hister”. Some people contend

that this misspelling is not significant enough to discredit the

vision, but I would argue that an error of that magnitude would

discredit both the prophet and the prophecy according to the

strict standards established by the word of God.

We are told in Deuteronomy 18:21-22:

And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

In other words, “A miss is as good as a mile”!

As it turns out, in Isaiah 45:1, we have a prophecy that is

similar to the case of Nostradamus except it does not contain a

mistake. It reads,

Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates and the gates shall not be shut.

This prophecy foretells the fall of Babylon to the armies of

Cyrus the Great in 539 B.C. It should be noted that Babylon

was built across the Euphrates River and where the walls of

the city crossed the river gates were made and positioned so

the city could not be entered through the waterway unless the

gates were unlocked from the inside. The armies of Cyrus

went upstream and cleverly diverted the Euphrates into a lower

valley. Then some of the troops marched up the dry riverbed

under the water gates and into the city. Once inside, they

unlocked the main gates to the city and let their army in. All

of this having taken place at night, the entire city was taken

captive before they even realized they were under siege.


The book of Isaiah was written around 740 B.C. so these

events were prophesied about 200 years in advance. Notice

that not only is Cyrus spelled correctly, but the unusual

method of conquering a city was also accurately foretold!!!

Now,

...the Lord is not willing that any should perish,

but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

This has led God to establish a rule for Himself, one which is

for OUR benefit. We are told in Amos 3:7,

Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

In other words, since part of the testimony of Jesus is

contingent on prophecy, God is very careful to reveal in

advance the things He is going to perform. With this in mind,

let's examine some of the evidence He provided to the Old

Testament Jews concerning the first coming of their Messiah,

our Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Seventy Weeks of Daniel Daniel, an Old Testament prophet, received information of a

future event from the angel Gabriel. This prophecy was given

so the Jews would be aware when the time of the Messiah was

near.

Daniel 9:24-27 reads,

Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people (the Jews) and upon thy holy city (Jerusalem), to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness (Christ’s Millennial

Kingdom), and to seal up the vision and prophecy,


and to anoint the most Holy (Jesus). Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be (#1) seven weeks, and (#2) threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks (62 weeks) shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself (for us): and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he (the prince that

shall come) shall confirm the covenant with many for (#3) one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation (offerings)

to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations (evil deeds) he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation (the end), and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Let’s review a few things about this prophecy. First, it is said

to cover a period of seventy weeks which it divides into three

distinct periods of time. These are (#1) 7 weeks, (#2) 62

weeks, and (#3) 1 week. Also, notice that the prophecy begins

with the order to rebuild Jerusalem and then combines the 7

week period with the 62 week period, totaling 69 weeks. It

then concludes with Messiah the Prince (Jesus) being cut off but not for himself. The final 1 week period follows these

events.

OK, let’s turn to the Bible and by allowing scripture to

interpret scripture we will see if we can follow the hints and

arrive at the information God wanted His people to have.


This prophecy officially began with the order to rebuild

Jerusalem which can be found in Nehemiah 2:1-6. The date

given is the Jewish month of Nisan, in the 20th year of

Artaxerxes king of Persia. This would correspond to about

the 13th day of March, 445 BC according to our modern

calendar. Messiah the Prince, Jesus, rode into Jerusalem in

Triumphal Entry on Sunday, April 2nd, 30 AD (Luke 19:37-40).

The problem at this point is that there are more than 69

literal weeks between the 13th of March, 445 BC and April

2nd, 30 AD. In fact, 445 BC+30 AD = 475 years. How are

we to resolve this obvious discrepancy?

The first thing we must do is make sure we are using a

scriptural approach in our attempt to understand this prophecy.

2 Peter 1:20-21 says,

... no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

This being the case, we will not apply our own private

interpretation, instead we will turn to the pages of the Bible

and allow it to unfold itself for us to view? When we examine

the account of the Israelite exodus from Egypt under the

leadership of Moses, specifically, the account of their first

attempt to enter the promised land, we find something very

interesting. ( See Numbers chapters 13 & 14). Briefly, here is

what happened. As the Israelites were preparing to enter the

promised land, Moses sent out 12 spies to search the land and

bring back a report of what they found there. When the spies

returned from searching the land for 40 days, they gave their

report. Of the 12 spies that went, 10 reported it was not

possible to conquer the inhabitants who were living there. The

remaining 2 spies gave the following report, knowing that God

was on their side.


And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. (Numbers 13:30)

The multitude believed the report of the 10 and because of

their fear and unbelief the Israelite people refused to enter the

land that God had promised them. Consequently, God was

angry and decided to punish them. Now, it is the scale God

used for the method of punishment that we are interested in.

In Numbers 14:34 the Lord said:

After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

(Numbers 14:34)

The scale that we are interested in is each day for a year!

You can find this same scale used again in Ezekiel 4:6. In

both cases the context is God dealing with Israel during a

probationary period. For each day they messed up the cost

will be one year. The prophetic time scale then, for such a

situation, is a day stands for a year.

The prophecy we are working with consists of a period of

seventy weeks and of course there are seven days in each week.

70 weeks x 7 days = 490 days.

We are, however, focusing on the first 69 weeks of the

prophecy. So, what we are actually looking at is this.

69 weeks x 7 days = 483 days.

By advancing to the next step and applying the scale of one

day stands for one year, we find that we are dealing with a

period of 483 years. Here we have a problem because 445

B.C. + 30 A.D. = 475 years, not 483.

What should we do? Well, there are a several ways to measure

a year. For instance, a Lunar year has 354 days in it, a Solar


year has 360 days in it and the Astronomical year has 365 1/4

days in it. So then, the question for us is How does the word of

God measure a year? By turning to Genesis chapters 7 and 8

we can find the answer.

In Genesis 7:24 we find that during Noah's flood,

...the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

Looking again in Genesis, this time at 7:11 and 8:4 we are told

that the flood began,

...in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month.

and ended,

...in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month.

Therefore, the Bible reckons that from the 2nd month to the

7th month (or 5 complete months) is equal to 150 days. This

works out as 30 days to the month when counting Prophetic

Chronology. (This same system of measure can be found by

comparing Revelation Chapter 11 verses 2 & 3.)

At this point let’s do some figuring. From 445 BC to 30 AD

equals 475 Astronomical years or 476 years inclusively.

476 years x 365 1/4 days per year = 173,859 days.

To this we must add the 21 days inclusive which will be found

between March 13th on the BC date and April 2nd on the AD

date.

So, 173,859 days + 21 days equals 173,880 days total.

Since we have found there are 30 days in a prophetic month,

we can easily see that 30 days x 12 months = 360 days in a

prophetic year.

The next step is to divide our Astronomical calculation of


173,880 days by 360 days in a prophetic year. Therefore,

173,880 days divided by 360 days equals 483 years. These we

can divide by 7 days in a week and we end up with 69 weeks,

which is exactly what we started with when we began to study

Daniels prophecy.

What stronger testimony for the Lordship of Jesus Christ could

a person ask for? Is there any room left for doubt? If any

doubts remain, let us consider the mathematical probability of

this particular prophecy coming to pass.

First of all, between 539 BC (when the prophecy was given)

and 445 BC (when the prophecy officially began) there were

94 years of 365 1/4 days each in which the order to rebuild

Jerusalem could have been given. This equals 1 chance out

of 34,333 that the prophecy would begin on the right day.

Furthermore, between 445 BC and 30 AD there were 475

years of 365 1/4 days each in which the prophecy could have

ended with the Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. This

equals 1 chance out of 173,493 that the prophecy would have

ended on the right day.

We can duplicate the above probability of 1 out of 173,493

because it was foretold that Jesus would be cut off, but not for himself after the 69 week period.

To calculate the mathematical probability of these things

coming to pass we need to multiply 34,333 times 173,493

which equals a subtotal of 5,956,535,169. This must be again

multiplied by 173,493. This figure works out to be the unlikely

probability of 1 out of 1,033,417,156,075,317.

Bear in mind that this a conservative estimate for the

probability of ONLY one prophecy concerning the first

coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Now consider this; there

were over 50 prophecies as well as over 100 similitudes which


were fulfilled during the earthly ministry of Jesus. The

probability of any one person fulfilling all of the required

particulars works out to be in excess of 1 out of

100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,0

Take a good look at the above number. It is 1 out 10 to the

175th power. Some scientists have stated that the total number

of electrons in the known universe is probably less than 10 to

the 80th power. That is 10 with 79 zero's following. Jesus

Christ beat those odds by another 95 zero's!!!

Friends, if Jesus can live up to this type of probability, then in

all probability He is able to save your soul!

Know this, the scriptures say,

...all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

And Jesus said in Luke 13:3,

...except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Even so, praise the Lord because we are not without hope!

The Bible informs us in John 3:16 that,

God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The choice is yours! But be sure to heed this warning!!!

He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the


covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

(Hebrews 10:28-29)

In Conclusion:

Well, you have been presented the facts and the facts are: (1)

You have been shown the truth and you know that you know

it. To deny the material that you have just read is to remain

willfully ignorant and it is an excellent way to end up in

HELL! (2) God knows that you know the truth and you are

not fooling Him one bit. He knew your thoughts yesterday

and He knows them now. (3) God expects you to make a

choice. You are expected to either accept Jesus Christ as your

personal Lord and Saviour or to reject Him! There is no

middle of the road. To say I don’t know or I am not ready yet

is equivalent to saying NO !

...choose you this day whom ye will serve; ...as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

(Joshua 24:15)

Consider carefully the decision you are about to make. You

will have to live with this choice for eternity!

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life;

but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36)


Lord Jesus, right now I accept you as my Saviour. I know that

I am a sinner and that I deserve to go to Hell, but I also know

You loved me enough to die for me so I would not have to go.

Lord, I believe the blood you shed on the cross is more than

enough to save me. I believe that three days after your body

was placed in the tomb you raised it to life again and that one

day you will raise me up alive again to live with you forever.
