IRRIGATION HEALTH CHECK How to check your system aſter it has been off for a long time. STEP 1 Ensure no water is being used in the home or garden. STEP 3 Wait 10 minutes and read your meter again to ensure there are no hidden leaks. STEP 4 Run through a full program and supervise each station: Check that all sprinklers pop up Make sure they are not spraying on any hard surfaces like concrete or driveways Look for water bubbling out of the ground or ground swelling Listen for unusual noises that may be leaks Check that all sprinklers also fully retract and are not leaking after the cycle is complete Note: after an extended dry period, connections may break under pressure from moving soils STEP 6 Repair or replace any damaged heads, seals or pipe. Search ‘Irrigation Australia Directory’ for certified professionals that can help. STEP 7 Use the Irrigation Settings Guide on council’s website and adjust your system as required for a strong lawn all year round Tip: it’s a good idea to check this after the system has been turned on again for a few days. If the box has pooled water, you may have a large leak. STEP 2 Turn your irrigation valve back on and read your water meter. The irrigation valve (see below) is in the valve box or the irrigation may have been turned off near the water meter.
