IRISPowerscan™ - WORKFLOW

• Wizard for project setup A very intuitive wizard including auto-detection allows you to set up a project and start scanning in a few clicks. The project wizard also features an auto-learning function based on labels, keywords, and format which enables you to train IRISPowerscan™ 10 and improve the processing.

• Import file IRISPowerscan™ can process any kind of image (JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PDF, or PNG) already scanned and archived in your system, arriving in a Watched folder or hosted in the cloud (Box, DropBox, OneDrive, SharePoint).

• Multi-stream support IRISPowerscan™ is able to scan and handle multistream images, e.g. a batch of documents, front and rear, scanned in color as well as in grayscale and black & white at the same time.

• Multi-mode scanning Append, rescan, attach, and insert pages within your batch.

• Automatic pre-processing of the scanned images Features such as automatic on-the-fly deskew, cropping/overcropping (eliminates black borders), rotation (supports landscape scanning), line removal, despeckle, black border removal, and blank page detection and deletion (reduces need to pre-sort) let you scan documents without worries. For optimal results, image processing features can be activated on various levels (e.g. to a particular page type) and in any pre-defined order.

• Image adjustment Adjust images of a complete batch of documents without having to scan them again. Available features are digital rethresholding, rebinarization, rescanning, etc.

• Deskew The skewing of the text is analyzed on the front of the page but is applied both on the front and the back of the documents, resulting in a much faster processing speed.

• Despeckle Clean up images by removing “noise” that can appear when scanning documents.

• Smoothening of color images Allows for optimal recognition results by reducing sharp transitions in your documents with the “smooth color image” function.

• Page orientation detection Automatic rotation and straightening of the text orientation contained in your documents for optimal OCR accuracy.

• Binarization Extremely fast binarization of color images. Scan all documents in color and create binarized images that can be improved with contrast, brightness, smoothening, and despeckle features.

• Color dropout When converting color images to black and white, remove problematic colors.

• Image cropping and zone deletion Remove edges of images, keep only selected parts, blank out unwanted zones, etc.

• Swap sides Swap the front and rear images in case you have scanned fronts and backs in the wrong order.

• Automatic identification of pages from barcodes, patch codes, OCR/ICR zones and layout identification. This allows IRISPowerscan™ to reach unmatched processing speeds since the system only carries out the necessary operations on the relevant pages, and not on every single one.

• Automatic classification of batches and documents from barcodes, patch codes, OCR/ICR zones, layout identification (see below), etc. Page identification can of course also be used in the document classification process.

• Automatic layout identification (IRISFingerprint™1) allows you to teach the program about the various page types you are scanning, so that any incoming page with a similar template

is identified (and used to classify a document or batch automatically) without the need for barcodes, patch codes, or text zones.

• Extended programming language to define the conditions used for identification and classification, featuring an easy-to-use Condition Wizard or the exhaustive Expression Editor (including your own functions defined in external scripts).

• On-line indexing at batch, document, or page level While scanning, index files automatically at batch, document, or page level thanks to OCR/ICR/MICR zones, barcodes, and patch codes.

• Indexing options You can set special default values, split barcode values over several fields, or validate indexes through mask formulas (invalid values will be highlighted in red).

• Extended programming language Define expressions to assign default values to indexing fields, featuring an easy-to-use Expression Wizard or the exhaustive Expression Editor (including your own functions defined in external scripts).

• Customizable interface Design your own extended indexing screen.

• Data Source Any indexing value can be retrieved and/or validated through an ODBC data source.

• Specific indexing settings for each document type Documents can be indexed and processed differently according to their type.

• Powerful barcode recognition Front and rear barcode recognition: IRISPowerscan™ recognizes more than 20 types of barcodes including the PDF 417 high density, the Data matrix, and the QR two-dimensional barcodes.

• Banking Fonts OCR Powerful banking font recognition: OCR-A1 Alphanumeric, OCR-A1 Eurobanking, OCR-A1 Numeric, OCR-B1 Alphanumeric, OCR-B1 Eurobanking, and OCR-B1 Numeric.

• Document renaming Several options are available for naming the output files, including any indexed information along with available metadata such as scan date, scan station name, incremental number, etc.

• Document numbering Continuous incrementing of document numbers across batches and incrementing of image numbers across documents.

• Multiple monitor support Display scanned document thumbnails on one screen and indexes on a second screen, etc.

3. Indexing

• Improved indexing Indexing has been made very fast and easy: you no longer need to key in the data thanks to the highlight OCR feature (simply select the zone on the image to get the OCR or BCR content; if needed that temporary “zone” can be stored by clicking on the capture button to be read on every page), combo lists and last value indexing.

• Validation With IRISPowerscan™ you can quickly and easily browse through and verify your scanned documents by displaying multiple images on the same screen. Handy navigation features are available, such as keyboard shortcuts to jump from one invalid index to another, overwriting of validation rules, auto-zooming on an OCR zone, adjust or create zones – OCR or BCR (barcode) – directly and without having to deal with complex setups. You can also link an OCR or BCR zone to an existing or new index field by a simple drag-and-drop.

• Tree view Navigate easily among batches, documents and pages thanks to the tree view. It also allows you to cut, copy, paste, and drag-and-drop any object (batch, document, page).

• Editing tools The user-friendly interface of IRISPowerscan™ lets you easily rescan, rotate, reorder, swap sides, delete pages, and infinite undo/redo.

• Post-scanning features Easily split and merge documents or batches and modify the position of pages across documents or documents across batches with a simple drag-and-drop.

• Data Source All value indexing fields can be retrieved from an ODBC data source so you can very easily pick up the right indexing value through, for example, combo box.

• Application Programming Interface IRISPowerscan™ is an open application with one single API that lets you extend the internal language with your own scripting functions, interact with the general workflow of IRISPowerscan™ by capturing events and acting on them, add your own output formats, and many other features.

- Image file formats such as TIFF (single or multi-page), BMP, PNG, JPEG, or PDF image (with possible iHQC™ hyper-compression). Standard Image compression: modify JPEG compression rate when generating PDF files (with or without text files) and compress all your images with JPEG2000 technology. Note: IRISPowerscan™ supports multiple output formats and connectors simultaneously: generate several output files with different file formats in one single process, from one image file, and export to any application.

• iHQC™: Intelligent High Quality Compression Technology iHQC™ is a patented revolutionary hyper-compression technology by IRIS, which will dramatically reduce the size of your PDF, PDF/A and XPS files (color or black & white) while maintaining perfect image quality and text legibility. iHQC™ generates better quality than JPEG 2000 with much smaller files.

OTHER FEATURES• The most intuitive and easy-to-use GUI

IRISPowerscan™ benefits from a new and very intuitive interface that has been redesigned to give users valuable enhancements such as an integrated explorer, panes for scanning, indexing, and properties with a dynamic selection of objects.

The interface is composed of three main parts:

- A File menu, where you can create, open, and save projects, apply general settings such as mail settings or the interface language, as well as manage users and groups, etc.

- A Navigation mode, in which you can scan and process your documents, navigate between them, and do basic configurations.

- A Designer mode, in which you can do advanced configurations and fully customize your projects.

• Software protection (no dongles) IRISPowerscan 10 is software-key protected and doesn’t require a dongle.

• Centralized configuration management (multi-user and batches)1 IRISPowerscan™ allows for multiple users to interact, for example by sharing projects or checking batches in

and out. Both the IRISPowerscan™ settings and data can be saved in a central network location. A manual or automatic push/pull system ensures synchronization (project setup, security and scanner settings).

• Centralized services to automate the activities of IRISPowerscan™ On top of being the optimal application when coupled to a scanner, IRISPowerscan™ also captures images from watched folders, allowing for automatic input. Sorting and indexing can also be automated for faster operation. Background processing1 speeds things along even further, since IRISPowerscan™ features a fully asynchronous process which allows you to start scanning a new batch while the previous one is still being processed.

• Security - Users and roles IRISPowerscan™ is a multi-user application and therefore has Users, Groups, and Permissions. Single login: user authentication in IRISPowerscan™ is done through the user’s login on the computer. This makes for much easier centralized and integrated security management.
