• It started in 1845.
Where did this happen?
• It happened in Ireland.
How did this happen?
• Under British rule the country was paying large amounts of rent and had to give up most of their food.
• Disease was in the soil was killing the potatoes.

• About 1,000,000 people(20% of the country’s population).
• If this were to happen in the U.S today it would be the same as 62,549,307 people dying from hunger and disease.
Where did the people go for refuge?
• They fled to Boston, Massachusetts.
