Windows- 98SE, ME, 2000 and XP Op erating System

1. Drivers Installation :

a. Please insert the driver CD into CD/DVD drive then the Install menu will be popup automatically. Or you can open the driver CD folder and move the mouse cursor and point to the “Autorun” and double click the mouse left key to execute, when the installation menu appears then check the IR721 Driver and select the “Install” to install the IrDA dongle driver. Following steps is only under Windows operation system.

b. Following popup screen appears and it start the ‘InstallShield Wizard’.

c. Click ‘Next’ to continue.



Windows XP/2000/Me/98SEd. Click ‘Next’ to continue. Or you may click

‘Browse’ to select folder destination.

e. IR-721 driver is installing.

f. If you are using the Windows XP O.S. then you will see a not passed Windows Logo testing popup screen, please click on the “Continue Anyway” to continue install the driver.

Note: The driver tested on the Windows XP already and work fine.

installation. Please Reboot your computer now.

h. Now connect the IR-721 adapter A-type USB connector to PC’s USB slot. Few Popup screens would appear momentarily before the device gets loaded, no user intervention required here and click ‘Finish’ to start using this new USB 2.0 IrDA adapter.

2. Detection:




a. While the IR-721 driver installed and the Red light LED starting flash then you can sure the IrDA dongle driver installed correct but you also can go to “Control Panel” ”System” ”Hardware” ”Device Manager” to check the IR-721 driver installed already or not.

b. Correct detection of IR-721 can be confirmed by seeing Device Manager contents under Infrared devices, presence of ‘IR-721 USB2.0-FIR-IrDA-Adapter’.

3. Establishing IrDA Connection with another PC:a. After confirming the detection of IR-721 as indicated above, Place any other IR device ( Ex. PDA,

Cell phone or Notebook with IR port ) in the range of IR-721.You will find a popup text message in Task bar as another IR device in range & IR icon appears in task bar as below.

b. While has another IrDA device in the range of the IR-721 like the mobile phone, then the Windows Task bar will appears the IrDA linking icon as behind and the icon indicating data transfer is in progress. Moving the Cursor onto this Icon will display the connection speed of IrDA link.

c. If the Task bar shows the IrDA icon as behind that means the IR-721 is linking to the other IrDA device but without data communication.

d. As IR connection icon appears on Taskbar, the Wireless link icon as behind appears on the desktop of Windows.




e. Double click on the IrDA icon in Taskbar, This opens following Wireless link window by which you can send / receive data.

f. Go to specified File or Folder path, Select the File or Folder to be transferred, Right Click >> send to >> Infrared Recipient or Directly Click >> Send button available in application window.

g. Any File or Folder can also be transferred by following method. Select the File or Folder from required location >> right click >> Send To >> Infrared Recipient.

4. Remove (un-plug) IR-721 from the computer:

a. If you want to remove the IR-721 from the power on PC then please check the icon as behind from the tool bar.

b. Select the “Safety remove IR-721 USB2.0-FIR-IrDA-Adapter”

Note: This example picture is from the Windows XP and the other Windows O.S. will have different removing procedure.

c. While the popup screen shows “Safe To remove Hardware” then you can remove your IR-721 from the PC directly.

5. Un-installation:If you want to clear this old driver from the System, we strongly recommend you



Windows XP/2000/Me/98SEalways do it from ‘Control Panel’, ‘Add/Remove Program’, I’m sure every user must very familiar with the steps. You also can execute un-installation by install the driver from driver CD again, it will automatically execute the un-installation procedure.a. After select ‘IR-721 Driver’, it will show this popup screen, click ‘Yes’ to start un-install the device driver.

b. Now is un-installing the device driver.

c. Now click ‘Finish’ to complete the un-installation.
