The training programme presents theoretical and pedagogical information about the use of ICT in education such as: a) Scaffolding meaningful learning by incorporating ICT in participants’ teaching skills b) Effectively implement ICT-enriched learning activities It also provides exemplary cases of ICT usage in education: a) New instructional approaches and models b) Innovative applications of educational technology This course aims to provide the means by which the participants will be able to: a) Familiarize themselves with the innovative ICT tools used for learning and teaching b) Compare different tools for their instructional purposes c) Analyze, criticize, and discuss the educational use and effectiveness of ICT tools d) Create new instructional contents with the help of ICT tools e) Develop learning activities and transfer them to other instructional contexts.  4.  Methodology    The   course   is   designed   as   an   interactive   process  with   emphasis   on   establishing   a  mentor   relationship  between  participants   and   trainer.   It  will   be  held   through  non  formal   education   methods,   discussions,   individual   activities   and   group   works,  presentations,   brainstorming   sessions,   case   studies   and   best   practices   sharing   in  order   to   achieve   the   objectives   set   up   and   contribute   to   the   further   project  development   of   its   later   stages.   The   focus   is   on   workshop   approach   including  theoretical   and   practical   information   of   ICT-­‐supported   learning   and   teaching.   The  participants  will   have   an   opportunity   to   do   practical   activities   and   to   gain   a   new  aspect  and  foster  their  knowledge  in  small  discussion  sessions.    The   participants   will   also   receive   materials   including   session’s   summaries   and  descriptions  of   activities  used.  We  will   recommend   them   interesting   literature   for  further  study.

5.  Profile  of  participants    The  participants  selected  for  attending  the  international  training  course  in  Balikesir  should  have  the  following  profiles:    

• Be   actively   involved   in   their   sending   organization   and   motivated   to   be  involved  in  the  training  course  

• Being   able   to   disseminate   the   information   regarding   the   project   in   their  schools,  be  ready  to  undertake  follow  up  actions  and  act  as  multipliers  of  the  gained  knowledge  later  on  

• Be  fully  able  to  use  English  language  with  working  proficiency  • Being  able  to  attend  the  full  training  course  duration  • Being   prepared   for   the   interim   evaluations   and   one   final   evaluation   at   the  

end  of  the  course.    6.  Preparation    Dear  participants,  we  would  like  to  hear  more  about  you  &  your  hopes/wishes  for  this   training.  We  will   take  your  answers   into  consideration  as  we  design  our   time  together.   Please   send   your   answers   to   the   questions   bellow   to  [email protected]  by  15th  of  December,  2015:  -­‐  Please  send  us  a   few  sentences  about  you:  what   is   the   longing   in  your   life/work  that  calls  you  to  this  training?  (Please  also  attach  a  small  photograph  of  yourself.)  -­‐  What  would  you  need   to  happen  at   this   training  so   that   it  would  be  an  excellent  experience  for  you?    Delegate   5   minutes   presentations:   One   of   the   main   goals   of   the   course   is   to  connect   among   each   other.   In   order   to   achieve   this   goal   we   kindly   ask   you   to  prepare  a  brief  5  minutes  presentation.  Here   are   some  guidelines   that  might  help  you:  -­‐  Tell  us  about  your  organisation  -­‐  Tell  us  about  your  work  -­‐  Mention  some  interesting  projects  you  work  on  -­‐  During  the  first  day  share  with  us  your  goals  and  objectives  regarding  this  course.    Please  bring  a  laptop  and  an  Ipad   (IOS  operating  system)  with  you  since  you  may  need   it   during   the   workshop-­‐practical   sessions   (e.g.,   eBook   creation).   Also,   in  Balikesir   at   that   time   of   the   year   the   weather   might   be   cold.   So   you   may   need  suitable  clothes.

7.  Hosting  organization      Balikesir  University   (BAU)  with  an  approximate  student  population  of  40.000  was  founded   in   1992.   It   has   11   different   faculties.   One   of   the   departments,   namely,  Information  &  Communication  Technology  (ICT)  enjoys  a  high  profile  and  is  reputed  for   its   work   in   a   range   of   disciplines   both   nationally   and   internationally.   The  primary   responsibility   of   the   department  is   to   develop   and   deliver   training  programs   that   enhance   the   pedagogical,   technological,   and   subject-­‐matter  knowledge.   It   is   also   aimed   at   training   adults   in   relation   to   the   development   of  professionalism   in   different   areas.   The   department   also   has   master’s   graduate  programme.  The  mission  is  to  attain,  produce,  apply  and  promote  knowledge,  and  to  train  professionals  with  that  knowledge  for  the  social,  cultural,  economic,  scientific  and   technological   development   of   society.   The   department   provides   courses   for  developing   ICT-­‐based   training   solutions   such   as   cloud-­‐based   and   android-­‐based  programming,   software   development,   animation   and   simulation   creation   using  different  software  in  the  market.      The   ICT   department   within   the   university   works   with   public   and   private  organizations   and   institutions.   It   has   good   connections   and   cooperative   relations  with   all   the   schools   and   training   centers.   The   department   is   actively   involved   in  many  in-­‐service  training  seminars,  workshops,  and  online  learning  certificates.        Visit  Balikesir  University  at  http://www.balikesir.edu.tr/baun_eng/        PART  II  –  Practical  Information  regarding  the  training  course      1.  Course  Venue:  BALIKESIR,  TURKEY    Balıkesir   Province  is   a   province   in   midwestern  Turkey,   having   coastlines   on   both  the  Sea  of  Marmara  and  the  Aegean.

 Balıkesir  is  located  on  the  biggest  and  dense  route  of  İstanbul  –  Bursa  –  İzmir  cities  of  Turkey.  Balıkesir  is  famous  for  its  olives,  thermal  spas,  and  clean  beaches,  making  it  an  important  tourist  destination.

   The  training  team  of  will  be  composed  of  experienced  trainers  having  expertise  in  the  topic  obtained  in  international  environment.  The  training  team  has  been  working  with  international  groups  and  delivering  training  activities  for  teachers,  trainers,  schools,  adults,  and  others.    2.  Travel  information  and  directions    Please,   remember   to   keep   all   your   travel   tickets   and   invoices   since   all  documents  will  be  needed  for  the  reimbursement  process!      ROAD  TRANSPORTATION  (Car,  Bus):  Balikesir  is  located  391  km  from  Istanbul,  545  km  from  Ankara,  154  km  from  Bursa  and  181  km  from  Izmir.  There  are  different  bus  companies  coming  to  Balikesir  from  these  points  and  from  many  other  points.    AIRLINE  TRANSPORTATION:    Koca  Seyit  Airport  which  is  located  in  Edremit  can  be  used  to  come  to  Balikesir  by  plane.  Reciprocal  flights  are  made  to  Ankara  and  Istanbul.  For  further  information:  http://www.korfez.dhmi.gov.tr/    RAILWAY  TRANSPORTATION:  People  can  reach  Balikesir  from  Izmir,  Manisa,  Eskisehir  and  Ankara  by  train.  For  further  information:http://www.tcdd.gov.tr/

SEAWAY  TRANSPORTATION:  Transportation  to  Balikesir  by  seaway  can  be  done  only  from  Istanbul  by  speed  sea  buses  up  to  Bandırma  (which  presents  a  view  of  wonderful  Marmara  Sea)  and  then  roads  (100  km  to  Balikesir)  can  be  used  to  reach  the  city  center.    LOCAL  TRANSPORTATION  Bus  route  of  Balikesir  Municipality  which  works  for  24  hours  from  bus  terminal  to  Public  Transportation  Center  (Toplu  Taşıma Merkezi-­‐TTM)  can  be  used  for  the  transportation  in  the  city  center.  Moreover,  other  buses  in  TTM  and  dolmus  (most  common  transportation  -­‐taxis  for  4-­‐5  passengers)  may  be  used  to  go  to  the  destination.      We  will  provide  more  detailed  information  after  the  participants  and  hotel  are  confirmed.    3.  Accommodation    HOTEL  TO  BE  STILL  CONFIRMED  Participants  will  be  hosted  in  the  hotel  OnHANN.  (http://www.onhann.com.tr/  )    Address:  Paşaalanı  Mah.  Bandırma  Cad.  A  –  Blok  Yaylada  AVM  No.  114  /  A    121  Karesi  /  Balıkesir  Türkiye

   Balikesir  University  will  make  the  booking  for  your  stay  during  the  training  course.    Participants  will   sleep   in   single   rooms  and  enjoy  all   the   services   included   in   their  reservation,   including   free   Wi-­‐Fi.   Your   hotel   is   situated   centrally   disposing   of  restaurant,  with   single   and  double  bedrooms  with   individual  bathroom.  The  hotel  disposes  of  wireless  Internet  access.      4.  Meals    You  will  be  provided  with  3  daily  meals,  which  will  be  taken  in  the  restaurant  of  the  hotel   as  well   as   in   other   restaurants   around   the   city   .   Also  Balikesir  University   is  going  to  ensure  2  coffee  breaks  (in  the  morning  and  in  the  afternoon)  during  your  stay.  We   kindly   ask   you   to   specify   any   specialities   in   your   food   diet   prior   to   the  course.    5.  Transportations  around  the  city    Transportations   should   be   managed   on   your   own.   For   this   please   follow   the  indication   provided   above   on   how   to   reach   the   venue.   Also,  make   sure   that   your  flights   are   scheduled   in   a   way   to   be   able   to   reach   the   airport   on   your   way   back  according  to  the  train  and  bus  schedules.    6.  Top  sights      In   case   if   you   have   some   free   time,   you   could   do   some   sightseeing.     More  information  on  the  official  tourism  website:      http://www.balikesirkulturturizm.gov.tr/    The   Zagnos   Pasha   Mosque,   built   in   1461   by   and   named   for   the   Grand   Vizier   of  Mehmet  the  Conqueror,Zagnos  Pasha,  was  once  part  of  a  great  complex.  Today  only  the   mosque   and   bath   remain.    The  Saat  Kulesi  (Clock  Tower)  built  in  1827  by  Mehmet  Pasha  is  a  smaller  version  of  the   Genoese  Galata   Tower.   The  Karesi   Bey  Mauseleum   of   1336   contains   the  cenotaphs   of   Karesi   Bey   and   his   five   sons.   Also   take   in   artifacts   from   the   area  displayed   in   the   newly   completed  Balikesir   Museum   (Kuve-­‐i   Milliye).    Degirmen   Bogazi,   the   beautiful   area   ten   kilometers   from  Balikesir  towards  Bursa,  lies  between  two  hills.  On  weekends  and  holidays  families   flock  to  this  scenic  spot  and   its   restaurants.   At   Karakol   village   photographers   can   capture   on   film   three

picturesque   windmills.   Ancient   Penderamus,   now   called  Bandirma,   is   today   an  important   commercial   and   industrial   harbor   second   only   to  Istanbul  in   the   Sea   of  Marmara.  You  can  spend  a  pleasant  afternoon   in  the  town's  restaurants  and  cafes.    The  Kuscenneti  National  Park  near  Lake  Manyas  is  an  ornithological  site  where  239  different   species  of  birds   flourish.  Every  year,  over   three  million  birds   fly   through  this   preserve.   April   and   May   are   the   best   months   to   enjoy   the   wildlife      Marmara  Island,  formerly  known  as  Prokonessos,  rose  to  prominence  in  the  Roman  period  and  retained  its  importance  in  the  Byzantine  and  Ottoman  periods  thanks  to  the   marble   quarries,   which   supplied   the   stone   for   extravagant   imperial   building  programs.      110  kilometers  north  of  Balikesir  is  Gonen,  Turkey's  most  important  thermal  resort.  That   the   springs  were   used   even   in  Roman  times   is   testified   to   by   a   fifth-­‐century  mosaic  from  what  was  originally  a  Roman  bath.  The  waters  come  from  500  meters  below  the  ground,  emerge  at  approximately  82°C.      Sindirgi  lies   at   the   base   of   the  Alacam   Mountains  amid   beautiful   forests   and  meadows  in  a  region  known  for  the  weaving  of  superb  Turkish  carpets.  The  rugs  of  Yagcibedir  are  among  the  most  prized  in  the  country  and  grow  more  lovely  with  age.  Arround   the   Gulf   of  Edremit,   also   in  Balikesir  province,   are   some   of   the   most  beautiful   coastlines   in   the   country  where   clear  waters  meet   sandy  beaches  which  are  encircled  by  the  silvery  green  olive  groves.    Kazdagi  /  Ida  Mountain  National  Park.    Seytan  Sofrasi;  This  hill  is  surrounded  by  the    forests  of  pine  trees    and  rocks  having  a  control  area  for  the  town    is  located  in  Ayvalik  and  have  a  great  landscape  of  Sunset  and  Sunrise.    7.  Insurance  and  emergency  numbers      Information  about  insurance  of  the  participants  is  provided*  *TP  is  in  charge;  either  you  provide  insurance  or  they  buy  it  and  they  get  it  reimbursed.    In  case  of  need  hereby  you  can  find  some  Emergency  Numbers  below:    Ambulance:  112  (all  over  Turkey)    Police:  155  (all  over  Turkey)    Gendarmery:  156  (all  over  Turkey  for  rural  areas)
