One recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship ($500 in Fall 2014 and $500 in Spring 2015). The application deadline is Thursday, August 7, 2014. Bags of school supplies will be available for all grades Pre-K through 12. The supplies are appropriate for each grade. Please consider a $1 donation per child for all of this and much more. The Coalition, with the assistance of partners, will be providing close to 1,000 bags of supplies for Calhoun County children to begin school this year. This event needs student volunteers on Saturday, August 2 nd ! The event will kick-off at 8:00am CDT and last until 11:00am CDT. Volunteers are needed to help with event prep on Friday, August 1 st as well as volunteers to help at the actual event on Saturday. BACK-TO-SCHOOL DRIVE BACKPACK STUFFING On August 11, 12, and 13, there will be a Back-to-School Backpack stuffing at the Children’s Home Society of Florida, 1801 Miccosukee Commons Drive, Tallahassee, FL. You or your group can stop by anytime between 8:30am and 5:00pm. Everyone is welcome! Some of the volunteer duties include pack and sort donated school supplies into backpacks and to ease the disbursement process.

EARLY LEARNING COALITION The Early Learning Coalition will be hosting a 5K and 1 mile fun run on Saturday, October 18, 2014 and volunteer will be needed. More details will be coming soon! In the meantime, contact Molly Lord at [email protected].

FOSTER HOME MANAGEMENT’S ANNUAL SUPER SATURDAY

On August 23 from 9:00am to 3:30pm, Foster Home Management will be hosting their Annual Super Saturday at Fellowship Presbyterian Baptist Church, 3158 Shamrock Street South, Tallahassee, FL. There is a need for 20 volunteers from 9:00am to 1:00pm as well as 20 volunteers from 12:00pm to 3:30pm. Some of the volunteer duties include caring for children and assisting in areas throughout the event.

MYRON WELLNESS AND LEADERSHIP ACADEMY The Myron L. Rolle Foundation is hosting the 6th Annual Myron Rolle Wellness and Leadership Academy at Camp Blanding in Starke, FL from August 5 to August 8. The Academy is structured for 100 foster youth (boys and girls) to spend five days learning about Wellness and Leadership. There are both physical and educational activities and the youth are encouraged to do their best and push themselves to success despite the obstacles they are facing in their lives. Each year, the Academy needs about 50 mentors to volunteer to work with the youth. Mentors will stay at Camp Blanding at no expense and will be provided meals. The ideal volunteer is a young adult that works well with a group of youth who are dealing with tough, emotional times and needs someone who can be there and help guide them. Mentors are required to be willing to maintain an ongoing relationship with the youth they work with to continue to be a positive influence in their lives throughout the year. Graphic Designer This position will serve as a designer for one of the three Center clusters. Duties will include creating flyers, shirt designs, and other creative products for the cluster and will serve as a liaison between the marketing team and the cluster. This position will also work with a graphic design team to develop Center marketing materials. Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign is expected. Center Student Assistant: The Center Student Assistants (CSAs) are responsible for performing a wide variety of important tasks at the Center for Leadership & Social Change. This position will work specifically with the Identity Exploration Cluster within the Center. Duties include: assisting with cluster programs; research and training related to multiculturalism; identity and diversity awareness; organizing/cleaning spaces in the building (storage closets, work rooms, etc.); helping with other special projects; should be open to other perspectives as people do things differently; show sensitivity to differences; and educate self on topics related to diversity, privilege, oppression, multicultural and intercultural. Students should be able to work 8 to 10 hours/week, Monday through Friday, between 8:00am and 5:00pm. Multimedia Assistant This position will serve as the videographer and/or photographer for Center events. This position will also shoot and produce a video series that will include both creative content and interviews with members of the Center. Center Finance/Administration Student Assistant: Student Assistant position in the Finance/Administration cluster at CLSC is available. Student must have a valid driver’s license, proof of car insurance, and a good driving record. (Driver’s history will be processed before offer is made.) COAs will have the opportunity to cover the front desk as needed (answering phones and assisting visitors who come in seeking information or services). SUMMER OF SERVICE AWARD Youth Service America is offering a grant to young people who are creating lasting, positive change through volunteer and community service projects. AMERICAN RED CROSS: COMMUNITY OUTREACH INTERN

The Capital Area Chapter Outreach Intern will manage and facilitate Chapter community outreach, as well as community disaster education, to increase disaster preparedness knowledge and promote a stronger American Red Cross presence within our 8 county regions of the Big Bend – Leon, Gadsden, Wakulla, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, and Jefferson. This internship is a minimum of 1 year (Fall/Spring), a minimum time commitment of 15 hours per week, and the availability to start earlier if desired. The intern will gain hands on experience with non-profit program development, opportunity to learn and experience volunteer management, and valuable networking. Potential majors that are applicable to this position are marketing, customer service, and public relations. Responsibilities: • Respond as the main point of contact for outreach event requests

and invitations • Research possible outreach opportunities within 8 county regions • Contact schools, churches and other applicable organizations to

inform of Red Cross community disaster education – Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness presentations, Citizen CPR, Fire Weather House and Scrubby Bear

LEON COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY The Leon Country Humane Society has a new internship opportunity available for Marketing/Communications majors. The deadline to apply is Friday, August 1. The intern will assist with the social media marketing and fundraising efforts.

As an intern, you are expected to have experience with social media on (at least) a personal level (use on a business/non-profit level preferred). You will have the opportunity to think strategically and see how social media fits into a non-profit marketing strategy and works to build long-lasting relationships with supporters. Interns will be part of formulating and implementing social media plans. A writing sample is required for this internship. The Social Media and Marketing Intern will be expected to work 10-20 hours per week, days and times are flexible between 10:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays required. Some training is provided by the Leon County Humane Society and applicants must be at least 18 years of age. You must have knowledge of digital medial software (Adobe Creative Suite or other graphic design software, etc. is preferred) and video editing software (iMovie, Final Cut, etc. is a plus). Whole Child Leon, a non-profit organization committed to connecting families with service providers and all sectors of our society whose activities impact the lives of children and families, is seeking 2- 3 interns for the fall semester. The students will be supervised by Executive Director, Courtney Atkins, MA. Students may have a flexible schedule as long as they meet with WCL staff one day per week to receive assignments and communicate progress.
