Our research uses bacterial DNA to develop ideal year-round environmental indicators of Southeastern marine gulf coastal health. The research will reduce pathogens dangerous to game fi sh.

– Erin Donovan, Auburn University

Our studies discovered a protein that regulates signaling within the body and represents a new target for anti-tumor drugs. The discovery may prove extremely useful for the treatment of human cancer.

- Danalea Skarra, University of South Alabama

Delicate marine animals face mortal danger from wounds and have evolved an extremely rapid, as fast as 30 minute, repair mechanism. Our replicating research will provide rapid repair and health benefi ts for man.

- Matt Dodson, Auburn University

We developed a low cost non-automated procedure to rapidly annotate, clone and express the proteins from genome sequencing without the use of robotic machinery. The resulting approach for determining gene structure is much less time and personnel intensive.- Ronny Hughes, University of Alabama

in Huntsville

The Graduate Research Scholars Program (GRSP) is an investment in Alabama universities that will expand research output, attract quality

graduate students and make our universities more competitive for quality faculty hires. The program will provide a highly trained workforce to fuel the growth of high technology companies in Alabama. A signifi cant goal of the GRSP is to encourage interdisciplinary training and research, to train professionals for careers in the scrutinized fi elds, and to encourage individuals from underrepresented groups to consider careers in these fi elds.
