Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th July 2014 8pmIn My Father’s Words By Justin young. Eden Court Theatre, Bishop’s Road Inverness IV3 5SA In an old wooden house by the shore of Lake Ontario in Canada, Louis battles with his elderly father, Don, whose decline into dementia is gradually robbing him of the ability to speak. Louis’ professional success as a university teacher of Classics belies an emotional inarticulacy which matches his father’s inability to express himself in words. Into their lives comes Flora, the carer that Louis employs to look after Don. Flora is of Scottish heritage and a good listener, and she un-derstands that the ‘nonsense’ which Don speaks is fragmented Gaelic, opening up an ocean of revelations and buried family history spanning the Atlantic. In My Father’s Words is a beautiful play about identity - national and personal - and language, and the utter indivisibility between the two. Seat prices: £14.00 / Reduced Rates £12.00 / U18s £8.00 / Eden Court Friends Discount Ap-plies. Tel: 01463 234234 www.eden-court.co.uk

Friday 18th July 8pmPreston Reid.Eden Court Theatre, Bishop’s Road Inverness IV3 5SA One of the most influential solo guitarists of the last two decades, Preston Reed has captivated audiences the world over with his two handed integrated percussive style and directly influ-enced many of today’s contemporary acoustic players such as Andy McKee and Kaki King. Reed fuses chord-based grooves, soaring melodic runs and polyrhythmic percussion that integrates the breathtaking potential of the guitar body. The power and depth of his original and timeless compositions are as unique as the man’s execu-tion, as blues, rock, funk and jazz meet, interlock and attack in a sonic brew that is unlike anything you’ve heard from one solo guitarist before. Pres-ton Reed doesn’t need a band. He is the band. Seat prices: £13.00 / Reduced Rates £11.00 / Eden Court Friends Discount Applies.
