Invasive plant field day The Thomp- son-Nicola Invasive Plant Management Committee will host invasive plant field day in the Lower Nicola Val- ley today, at Smith Pioneer Park. Inva- sive plant special- ists will be on site to share information on Blueweed and other invasive spe- cies in the area. The TNIPMC is inviting pri- vate landowners, land managers, and members of the public to attend and learn about management options. Attendees are welcome to bring their unknown plants to the field day for identification. The TNIPMC has made arrangement to have goats on site to help demonstrate weed control. She will share slides and stories, answering questions, and selling and signing copies of her new book The Pursuit of Endurance: Harnessing the Record Breaking Power of Strength and Resilience, which Kirkus Reviews calls “a captivating narrative guidebook that will inspire readers to test their own limits, on the trail and off”. It is uncertain when a court decisions will be made, but the applicants antici- pates hearing back within a few months. The previous leave application took two months to be decided. And on Monday, lawyers from Eco- justice launched a legal challenge against the federal government, on behalf of envi- ronmental groups Raincoast Conservation Foundation and Living Oceans Society (who were part of the legal challenge that won their first case in August 2018, when the Federal Court of Appeal struck down cabinet’s previous approval of the project). The Thomp-son-Nicola Invasive Plant Management Committee will host invasive plant field day in the Lower Nicola Val-ley today, at Smith Pioneer Park. Inva-sive plant special-ists will be on site to share information on Blueweed and other invasive spe-cies in the area.
