MUNAY-KI

Cissi Williams explored the teachings of the Munay-Ki on a course held in Glastonbury, a place shrouded in mystery and legends, where it is believed that the archetypical energies are strong and the veils between the worlds are thin. But what are the Munay-Ki rites, and is there really a sacred energy in Glastonbury?

THE MUNAY-KI are nine rites of initiation of the Shaman’s path of the Q’ero nation, which are

the indigenous people of the sacred mountains of the Andes in Peru – a tribe of 600 who sought refuge from the conquering conquistadors at an altitude of 14,000 feet and are believed to be descendants from the Incas. These indigenous people were the Laika, the medicine men and women, and for 500 years they had preserved their sacred wisdom and medicine, living in virtual solitude from the world. That is until the signs from their ancient prophecy had come true –that the time had now come when the world would be turned right-side-up and harmony would be

restored. These signs were that the high mountain lagoons had dried, the condor was nearly extinct and the Golden Temple had been discovered (which happened in 1949 following an earthquake underneath a monastery in Cusco, Peru).

These prophecies refer to the end of an era – a death of our old way of being and relating to each other – and the birth of a new consciousness, allowing us to emerge into a golden age, a golden millennium of peace.

HEALER RITE activates your innate healing ability and connects you to healers from the past, who can assist in your personal transformation on your path of evolution.

BANDS OF POWER RITE weaves fi ve luminous belts into your energy body fi eld, which act as fi lters, helping to break down negative energy so you are not affected by it. In a world fi lled with fear, these bands provide essential protection.

DAY KEEPER’S RITE connects you with master healers of the ancient times and helps you heal your inner feminine, bringing you into harmony with Mother Earth.

HARMONY RITE gives you seven shamanic archetypes, one for each chakra. In the fi rst chakra you receive the archetype of the serpent, helping you to shed the old; in the second chakra you receive the archetype of the jaguar, so you can heal old karma and ancestral pain; in the third chakra you receive the hummingbird, helping to connect you with your soul’s journey; and in your fourth chakra you receive the eagle/condor, so you can fl y wing-to-wing with spirit, with an open heart. The rites are given through an attunement healing process, during which you receive the healing and also the transmission. The rites will clear your energy � eld of the heavy energy from past traumas, causing your chakras to glow with their original radiance. Your energy then becomes of such a high vibration that you can more easily hear the guidance from the spirit world.

The prophecy actually holds that North America will supply the physical strength; Europe will supply the mental focus (eagle); and the heart will be supplied by South America (condor).

It is said that the Munay-Ki rites were � rst given to ancient teachers by angelic beings, and that now they can be passed on from teacher to student in the form of invisible seeds of light, of new potential. Dr. Alberto Villoldo, who has studied extensively with the medicine men and women in the Amazonas and the Andes, was shown these rites, as the time had now come for them to be shared to others in the West. The result is that these rites are now starting to spread across the globe. It is believed that as you receive the rites, you will sense the presence of the lineage they come from, the master healers and luminous beings who work with you from the spirit world.

The Chalice WellOn the last day, we visited Chalice Well, also known as the Red Spring, which is situated at the foot of Glastonbury Tor. This holy well has been in use as a place of meditation, re�ection and healing for over 2000 years, and you can feel the sacred energy that dwells here. It is even believed to be the �nal resting place of the Holy Grail, and in modern chakra maps of the earth, Glastonbury (and especially Chalice Well) is considered to be the earth’s spiritual health chakra.

It is said that as you look into the well you will be shown your true soul re�ection, and as I stared into the soft water I could not fully believe what I was seeing, so I stared into it for a little while longer, hoping for the re�ection to change. Then I heard an inner voice say: ‘Trust what you are seeing, be still and receive guidance as to what this means for you.’ And then the guidance came. It was as if I had information downloaded into my consciousness, very fast and with an incredible clarity, where I could view my life, and the

consciousness of our planet and of humanity, from a higher perspective.

A journey into a mystical universeThe Munay-Ki rites take you on a journey into opening your heart and connecting you more �rmly with Mother Earth and the divine, whilst clearing your chakras of past trauma and the various ways that you have blocked your inner light from shining fully, so you can more easily choose love, instead of fear. And to receive these rites whilst being in the mystical landscape of Avalon, well that is a quick way of taking you straight through into a mystical universe where everything is possible, enabling you to become a co-creator with the divine, birthing a new consciousness into being.

Going on a questOne of the most amazing experiences during the course was going on a quest up to the Tor. We walked in silence, passing the Red and White Springs, into the fairy �eld leading up to the Tor, and then up to the tower, where we stated our individual quest out loud. As I stated my quest I could feel how something sacred was taking place.

The next morning I woke up really early and felt a strong pull to meditate. As I closed my eyes I could feel how I was being taken on an inner journey – and I realized I was being invited to visit the mystical Isle of Avalon. My conscious mind at this stage was screaming wildly that I was making all of this up, but the pull to allow myself to be taken into this mystical land was just too strong. I was shown the answer to my quest and reassured I was not going mad, and that in fact I had visited Avalon many times before, just not in this lifetime.

A few hours later, during one of the initiation rites, I was being shown a past life memory where I had been burned as a witch, which had caused me to place an energetic heavy metal chain over my throat, to stop me from speaking my spiritual truth. Again my conscious mind tried to protest against what was happening, but my body was fortunately wiser than my mind, and it started to shake, with tears �owing down my face. It felt as if a dark, heavy energy was being exorcised out of my very being. Afterwards I felt incredibly light, and if I had had any doubts before whether these rites worked or not I certainly had now received my answer. They de�nitely work!

The Black MadonnaAnother powerful experience was when we were being guided to meet the Black Madonna. I had never before worked with the Black Madonna (or so I thought), but as I started to go inwards, into the darkest places within me and observe and identify what was there, by acknowledging the shadows

make amends. It was as if wave after wave of pain, guilt, regret and deep sorrow would wash through me, and for each wave, she was there, holding me, supporting me, accepting me, and giving me the space I needed to heal my inner darkness. Then the waves stopped, and I felt totally cleansed. And at peace.

I realized through that experience that there is a divine feminine that exists in the light, which helps us to connect with the divine light and with our spiritual truth, but that there is also an aspect of the divine feminine that lives in the dark, and she too is a great healer. She is the one that holds us in our grief and embraces us when we feel low. She is the one that helps us heal our shadows, our fears and that which is hidden, so we can allow our inner love to reach even deeper places. Both aspects of the divine feminine, the light and the dark, are needed in order to help us heal, and I could see how the Black Madonna had been present with me for a very long time – I just had not been able to name her presence before.

I found, by embracing the emotions I was feeling, I could feel how ‘She’ was there, holding me, comforting me, and loving me, with complete acceptance and forgiveness.

I realized she has been with me for a long time. She is the divine feminine that lives in the dark, who has soothed my being in my darkest hours. She is the loving presence that has rocked me to sleep and wiped away my tears. She is the gentle voice that has whispered loving words into my ear when I felt I could not go on any longer. I realized she had been with me in my deepest and darkest depressions, in my despair and inner turmoil, and she had always, always loved me.

The Black Madonna showed me what I needed to heal – it was as if I was sitting with her in a sacred inner sanctuary, where a little candle was lit, and she was bringing into my awareness people I needed to forgive, aspects of myself I needed to embrace, and actions I needed to atone for. Even my pets that had now passed over were there, allowing me to say goodbye and

CHALICE WELLThere are two sacred springs in Glastonbury, known for their healing properties; the Red Spring in Chalice Well, which represents the divine feminine; and the White Spring, which represents the divine masculine. It is said that the red and white waters will start to flow together at the time of Divine Union, and that great miracles will occur in the world when this happens.

STEPPING INTO THE MYSTICAL LANDSCAPE OF AVALONAvalon brings up images of a mystical land surrounded by mists – a place of legends – but did it actually exist or is it just a myth?Glastonbury has been identi�ed with Avalon, and there certainly is a very special energy held in this part of the world, with many other sacred sites nearby such as Avebury and Stonehenge. It is an important place in the King Arthur legends, and it is said that King Arthur is buried in Glastonbury Abbey. Historically, it was a mystical and spiritual centre not only for the druids and the Celts, but also for early Christians.

I had never before been to the sacred sites of Glastonbury, so I was really looking forward to seeing if I could experience the mystical energy I had heard so much about. I certainly was not to be disappointed. It was truly amazing to experience and feel the divine feminine and masculine energies
