Under patronage of the Ministry of Energy, Offshore West Africa Conference and Exhibition 2014 took place at the International Conference Centre, Accra, Ghana on 21-23 January 2014, and reached over 800 visitors and delegates from 35 countries worldwide. These attendees included major operators, with over 25% of attendees coming from outside of the West African region. The international reach of Offshore West Africa is confirmed with attendees from as far afield as Canada, Japan, Russia and the USA as well as good support from the UK and mainland Europe. Hosted by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and sponsored by Lukoil, ABS, MODEC, ENSCo, CPTDC, Shell, NNPC, PETAN, Lloyds Register, JC International Ltd., Midis Energy Services Limited, and AGM, Offshore West Africa 2014 proved to be another success in its 18 year history. Offshore West Africa 2014 focused on the increasing interest in the region's emerging hydrocarbon potential. Recent drilling success offshore Ghana and Angola is spurring interest from major operators and independents alike. Under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy & Petroleum, Ghana, Mr. Wilieson Shamo, Director, Petroleum, opened the conference with a Welcome Address. The conference and exhibition provided the tools and resources to offshore upstream industry professionals that are seeking new business opportunities in the West Africa region. In addition to the conference, Offshore West Africa provided a rich exhibition of services and equipment, with exhibitors, including major operators, coming to Ghana from all over the world. With over 40 exhibitors taking part, the Offshore West Africa Conference and Exhibition goes from strength to strength, with continuous networking and business meetings taking place throughout.

CONFERENCE INFORMATION Under the Patronage of the Ministry of Energy, Republic of Ghana, the 18th annual Offshore West Africa once again addressed key technological and developmental issues for the West African offshore oil and gas market, through a comprehensive educational program and three-day exhibition, under the theme – Expanding West Africa’s Offshore Potential. The Offshore West Africa 2014 Exhibition was officially opened with the Opening Plenary, moderated by Sammy J. Ojigbo, member of the Offshore West Africa Advisory Board, and including a Welcome & Introduction from Mr. Russell McCullley, Senior Technical Editor on behalf of PennWell Corporation. The presentations as part of the Opening Plenary came from the Offshore West Africa Advisory Board Chairman Mr. Theo Ahwireng, Acting Chief Executive, Petroleum Commission, Ghana, a Welcome Address from Mr. Wilieson Shamo, Director, Petroleum on behalf of Hon. CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS Other conference highlights of the 18th Offshore West Africa included a Panel Discussion on Operators Perspectives, which took place on Wednesday 22 January in the Congress Hall, moderated by Mr. Toyin Akinosho, Africa Oil and Gas Report, and including a panel consisting of Mr.Michael Aryeetey, Lead Geoscientist, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation and Mr. Dave Wilkin, New Opportunity Exploration Manager for Africa and Vice President Esso Exploration International Ltd., ExxonMobil.
