1. The WasTe ManageMenT Plan All development applications require a Waste Management Plan. The Hills Shire Council’s Waste Management Plan template is available on the following link http://www.thehills.nsw.gov.au/Construction-and-Demolition- Waste.html The Waste Management Plan outlines measures to minimise and manage waste generated during demolition, construction and the ongoing use of the premises. a. Completing the right sections on the Waste Management Plan Where applicable applicants should complete the Demolition, Construction and ongoing management stages of the plan. However, where an application is being submitted which is not applicable to one or more of these stages, only the information from the appropriate stage needs to be included. b. Finding waste contractor information A copy of The Western Sydney Recycling Directory can be found on Council’s website at http://www.thehills.nsw.gov.au/ Construction-and-Demolition-Waste.html. This directory has a list of local construction and demolition waste contractors and includes details of their individual services and the materials which they will accept for recycling/disposal. c. Changing waste/recycling contractors prior to commencing works or during construction This information submitted is a guide and can change provided that the same or a greater level of reuse and recycling is achieved as detailed in the plan. d. Working out how much waste you will generate There are several guides available on Council’s website to help applicants estimate waste quantities during demolition, construction and the ongoing management stages of the development.
