INTRODUCTION TO THETRANSFER PRICING AGGIES STUDENT PROFILE BOOK

The Transfer Pricing Aggies Student Profile Book (September 2016) highlights 42 students whoare taking my International Transfer Pricing course this semester or who have taken the course inthe last 12 months. They are looking for internships or full time placements in transfer pricing or inrelated careers such as tax, valuation and data analytics.

My 14 week, 42 hour Transfer Pricing course is a demanding graduate seminar where studentsread and discuss both scholarly and professional research on multinationals and transfer pricing.Required reading includes the U.S. Section 482 Regulations (as of 9/16), the OECD Transfer PricingGuidelines (as of 9/16, with parts of the 2010 TPG replaced by BEPS Action Items 8 10 and 13), andthe United Nations 2013 Practical Manual on Transfer Pricing for Developing Countries. Ourtextbook is Cole and Byrnes, A Practical Guide to US Transfer Pricing. 3rd Edition (Lexis Nexis). Inthe course, we discuss the latest topics including: value chain analysis and DEMPE activities, intellectual property and risk migration, BEPS and country by country reporting, cash pooling andcost sharing arrangements, restructuring, permanent establishments and significant peoplefunctions, and advance pricing agreements. We review well known transfer pricing cases and theADIT Transfer Pricing Certificate exams. Students write weekly quizzes on course reading materials.Students complete three team assignments using Bureau van Dijk’s Transfer Pricing Catalyst,Thomson Reuters OneSource Documenter, and ktMINE's Royalty Rates. Students also interviewand write term papers on senior transfer pricing professionals, helping prepare my students fortransfer pricing careers while also improve their interviewing and writing skills. Most of mystudents have in addition completed the CFA Level 1 or 2 Exam and Advanced Excel training, together with Financial Statements Analysis and many other relevant courses.

Nearly 225 graduate students have studied transfer pricing with me since January 2007 and closeto half of them have careers in transfer pricing. Most of my graduates are members of the TransferPricing Aggies group on LinkedIn. I hope this new group of students also finds successful transferpricing careers. Each student has signed a FERPA form, allowing public release of his or herinformation for purposes of job placement. If your firm would like to interview one or more ofthese students, please contact them directly using the information on their profile page. Moreinformation about transfer pricing at Texas A&M can be found on my LinkedIn page and website.

I would like to thank Mr. Jenner Bate and Mrs. Marilyn Santiesteban for their help in puttingtogether this edition of the Transfer Pricing Aggies Student Profile Book. Gig’em, Aggies!
