Different FDTS scenarios

• New FDTS – backwards compatible with C3 models• Direct replacement of AUDIOmaster system

• Pro - Works for both C3 and C4 devices + wireless• Con- Not all C3 devices migrated at introduction

• New FDTS – not backwards compatible• Works only for C4 and going forward• AUDIOmaster still needed for C3 devices

• Pro – Only one TPI pr. device model• Con - Difficult to balance in production

• Mixed solution – AM TPI’s for C4 (wireless) + New FDTS • AM update for Windows XP (due to Ratatosk)• AM development of hardware upgrade for wireless• Development of Test programs for New FDTS

• Pro - Implementation not tied to MARS introduction • Pro – Expenses not tied to MARS • Con - Extra (not double) work for EA groups.• Con - Slow implementation of new FDTS

• WPF – Windows Presentation Foundation

• WF – Windows Workflow Foundation

• WCF – Windows Communication Foundation

Three technologies introduced in .Net 3.0

• PC operative system : Windows XP

• Test software core is NI TestStand & AUDIOmaster

• Test stand sequences is a standard NI product

• Test library is AUDIOmaster from MicroLEX

• NI acquired Microlex in 2008

• One supplier for all purchased SW

• GN still develop test programs

Software configuration

mmkrzysztofik
Future software development for test systems will be based on Microsoft .Net Framework..Net Framework is an official SW development platform in R&D.WPF, WF technologies are already used in many SW projects comming from DSP Platform Group (Ratatosk, process tools).Next generation Fitting Software is developed using those technologies.Using .Net for test systems software allows for easy system maintenance by anyone with .Net skills.More about WPF, WF, WCF:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Presentation_Foundationhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Workflow_Foundationhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Communication_Foundation

Current execution components

mmkrzysztofik
Main execution components in test system today are running in 'stack' fashion (one component loads other component into it's own execution domain). This setup is not optimal for following reasons:- many components are running continuously all the time the test system is active; they consume resources and introduce risk of crashing when no more resources are available- many test tasks have 'workflow' nature and stack setup makes it difficult to program- it's not easy to add new components because it's not always clear where those components shall be placed - no clear workflow of tasks- it's difficult to program interaction between components because the test system stack is built using too many technologies do not interoperate easilyMany limitations in software today come from the fact that we use very closed SequenTEST environment.

FDTS – a glance | Jan. 2009 | page 18

Workflow execution components (WF)

mmkrzysztofik
Test system components can be programmed in workflow fashion using WF technology.Activities in the system are defined as tasks running in separated boxes - 'application domains'.Tasks can be reloaded to refresh resources they use making system more robust and stable. It's easy to program inter-communication between different tasks. It's easy to add new tasks into workflow. Available Workflow Designer allows to program workflow tasks as visual diagrams. It's possible to have different workflows to choose depending on specific production setup requirements. It will be possible to outsource development of workflow to production site if needed.

Remote configuration (WCF+WF)

mmkrzysztofik
Remote configuration will allow to configure all test systems from one admin machine called Integration ServerConfigurations can be dedicated and shared by group of test machines or only for specific machinesDedicated workflow task running on test machine will copy new configuration from Integration Server

Publish based TPI deployment (WCF+WF)

mmkrzysztofik
Publish based TPI deployment will allow to automatically install TPI files from different sources (Agile, GTO Website).Navision system can facilitate automatic upload from Agile.Uploaded TPIs are stored in TPI Repository.Site administrator decides if and where new TPIs shall be installed (he will publish TPIs to test machines).Site administrator can be notified by e-mail when new TPIs are available in TPI Repository.Dedicated workflow task running on test machine will install new TPIs from Integration Server.
