One SWITCH or ROUTER can segment up your network and create multiple VIRTUAL networks.

Share one cable to transmit many network segments.

Requires – Managed Switch and/or Router with VLAN support

VLAN

WHY?

VLAN

SCENARIOVenue wants to upgrade their performance network to provide the following.- Remote control of Lighting Console- Implement an Audio DSP with computer application

for monitoring/setup- Remote control of Audio Console - Internet access for visiting clients

VLAN

WHY?- Security – Traffic doesn’t cross over VLANs unless

we allow it to- Physical Infrastructure (Tie Lines) – Reduce number

of tie lines between rooms by implementing a network back bone

Simple Network Architecture – No VLANs

Network Architecture – With VLANs

VLAN

WHY?- Security – Traffic doesn’t cross over VLANs unless we

allow it (Client on internet can’t access the lighting console)

- Physical Infrastructure (Tie Lines) – Reduce number of tie lines between rooms by implementing a network back bone

- Reduce the number of physical devices (switches) required – means we can invest in better quality items

- Integrations

IP Address Ranges
