2. Onceyougetthembackinside.Wetthemalittlebit.Shakeoffextrawaterthenplacethedampflowers,leavesandtwigsonapieceofpaperinaninterestingpattern.
3. Thenmovetheobjectsandtracethewetshapeswithapenorpencil.Theinkmaybleed,andthepencilmaycutaholeinthewetpaperifyoupressdowntoohard,sobegentleandjustcarefullyoutlinethewetshapes.Youmayormaynotbeabletorecognizetheobjectfromthesewetspots.That’sOK.
4. Nextblowdrythepaperorletairdryinthesun.Nexttracetheobjectsagainoncetheyaredry.Thistime,trytoperfecttheoutlineandoverlapthefirstdesignatleast5times.
5. Nowthatyouhavelotsofnaturalformsoutlined,turnitintoamorefinisheddrawingbyaddingcolorwithwatercolorifyouhaveit,coloredpencil,markeroranythingavailable.Tryanddrawdetailsoftextureandformthatyoucanobserveinthesenaturalobjects.LookattheworksofJohnJamesAudubonforinspiration-seenbelow.(approx.3hours)

Askafamilymembertomodelforyou.Thinkabouthowthebodypositionandbodylanguagecanconveyamoodandposethemaccordingtohowyouwantthemtolookfromthepointofviewthatyouaredrawing.Posethemwithinterestingprops,petsorfabrics.Usepencilandaddshading-toshowvalue,andusethickandthinlinestoshowtexturesandshapesinthescene.Doatleast2drawings-eitherthesamepersonfrom2differentviewsortwodifferentfamilymembers.(approx.30mineachsketch-1hourtotal)

Selectyourfavoriteoneofthesesketchestomakeintoamorefinisheddrawing/painting.Ifyoudon’thaveanypaintorink–trytomakeyourown-boilsomecoffeeorteaforafewminutestomakeitmoreconcentrated.OnceitiscoolyoucanpaintwithitlikeyouwoulduseIndiaink.Youcanusethissametechniquetomakecolorswithjuice,sodaorotherfoodsthathaveastrongcolor.Onlyusenaturalthingstomakeinkwith-nochemicals,perfumesorcleaners.IfyouhavetheInternetwatchinstructionalvideosonmakingnaturalinks(onlytrythiswithparentalpermission).Usewhatevermaterialsyouhavearoundthehouseifyoudon’twanttotryandmakeink.Lookattheportrait/figurepaintingsofAliceNeelforinspiration.Seenbelow(approx.2hours)
