Introduction

Odin Athletic is a new sports brand. It has been established through and continues to grow by supporting sport at is purest.......the weekend heros.

Our objective is to get more people involved in sport. We help by wher-ever possible keeping down the cost of fitting out teams to a minimum.

We are a company that is focused on helping sporting clubs ensure their sportswear choices are sound ones. Not all clubs have deep pockets. We know that when it comes to kit, they need hard wearing, high quality sport apparel that won’t cost an arm and a leg.

Of course, it is not enough to just get more people out there on the week-end, we want to make sure you look good doing it! We aren’t satisfied with just making great clothes, we also help design them. By doing this we can be sure that when articles are ultimately worn they make sense, both visually and in their function.

Odin Athletic is a proud collaboration with a number of Nordic, Australasian and European designers I’ve come across in my two decades of rugby wanderings.

It all started with a Rugby Jersey for Susie!Even after 20 years, rugby continues to be our passion. For the last ten of those John (the company founder) has become obsessed with teamwear design and the search for the perfect kit.

It was this search that led to the beginnings of Odin Ath-letic In particular a Jersey for Susie.

Throughout the last decade, the team at Odin Athletic have been active in developing (and destroying) kit all in the name of sport. In that time, it has become increasingly obvious of what works and what people want.

The answer is simple. Good Kit.

The Odin product range is one that has been developed to be functional, hard wearing and above all comfortable for wearing both on and off the field. Most importantly you needn’t be a millionaire to keep a team looking great.

New technologies in both materials and in fabric printing has meant that your kit today can be just about anything you want. The team at Odin Athletic are on hand to help create the kit that will help your team stand out from the crowd.

We will take care of the performance of the kit, we just ask that you take of the performance on the pitch!

If you can think it, we can make it!Whether a new team or one with hundreds of years of glorious history, standing out from the rest is important. Our subli-mation printing process allows you to put almost anything on a jersey!

Sublimation printing is the application of sublimation inks onto a surface using a heat press. This combination causes the inks to be converted from a solid to gaseous state enabling the ink to penetrate the surface creating a permanent, full col-our image. Because the colour penetrates the surface of the item the result is colourful, long lasting finish that is resistant to scratching unlike some other printing methods that merely print onto the surface of the item.

Jersey MaterialsWe use a variety of different jersey materials with a range of different properties to suit different club needs. We have the ability to even replicate any material available on the market.

The most popular materials for Rugby Jerseys tend to be our Skintech and Kiwitech which are very durable but allow users to player to wear them tight and prevent to opportunities for oppositions to effect tackles by scragging jerseys.

• Skintech is a very flexible fabric and can be worn tight as it moulds to an individuals body shape and settles close to the wearers skin hence it’s name.

• Kiwitech is a less giving material and externally slightly course meaning it is uncomfortable for opposition players to grip as it almost rips out their fingernails.

Like all of the materials we use jersey fabric can undergo a silver ion treatment to provide the material with an anti-micro-bial edge which can make considerably cleaner jerseys over the course of a season and aid player hygiene.

Jersey Cut/ShapeThe modern game has brought with it many new things including the shape and cut of the simple rugby jersey. At Odin Athletic we have experience in making all shapes and sizes. The three most common jersey cuts are:

• Tight Fit: Popular with Professional XV’s, Seven’s and Ten’s teams alike

• Ultra Fit: Popular for training, touch and tag rugby

• Loose Fit: Popular with XV’s particulat heavy’s and veterns.

CollarsAs the jersey style has evolved, so too has the shaping of the collar.

The collars above are examples of collar designs we are currently using. We are able to manufacturer or design many popu-lar collars. Over the next couple of weeks we will be building the new 2011 Rugby World Cup collars into our collar range.

Training VestThis item is usually made of skintech or coolmax material and can be added to the team wear set for gym training or non-contact training sessions it is also popular for pre-match warm ups.

We also have a reversible version that proves particularly popular with touch rugby teams.

Sports BagsWe have a variety of existing boot, personal and team kit bags patterns in our range. For large order we can also replicate any existing sportwear bag available on the market.

Shorts

The illustrations above represent popular styles of shorts we produce. The premier style of shorts is an example of a previously bespoke design shorts developed for an individual client. In this instance the client required a panelled approach to shorts construction although this design would not recommended for all teams (e.g. 15’s teams) we include the example to demonstrate the flexibility we can achieve in play-ing kit construction.

The materials used for shorts can be altered to suit requirements of individual teams or clubs. We have a variety of shorts materials and weights at our disposal provid-ing us with the ability to tailor performance properties to individual needs. We have recently introduced a durable and flexible gusset system to our twister variety of shorts that allows greater freedom of movement for wearers.

Other elements we are currently experimenting with include providing panels of absorbent materials on shorts intended for scrum half ’s (9), fly half ’s (10) and hook-ers (2) thus providing these players with an option to effectively dry and clear hands during wet matches and potential for increased ball control.

Socks

The illustrations above demonstrate an example of the many different styles of socks we can produce. Our designs can replicate almost any sock graphic designs on the market.

We have two main Rugby sock styles use the first is a standard tubular sock design and the second is the use of different stitching styles to provide a sock that is models around stress points of the foot and prevents bunching.

We generally use a mixture of cotton and nylon materials for our socks and have recently added the use of anti-bacterial footbeds and coolmax fabric to provide a comfortable moisture wicking and temperature controlled performance.

Other ApplicationsThe sublimation process we use to produce most jerseys and shorts negates the need for embroidery. However cer-tain materials like the waterproof fabric used for wet jack-ets, optix shorts, cottons and tracksuits generally require designs to be provided through the use of fabric panelling (using different colour elements in their construction), flocking, screen printing or embroidery.

• Flocking Is a printing technique describing the application of fine particles to adhesive coated surfaces. This is car-ried out through the use of a high-voltage electric field. In a Flocking Machine the “flock” is given a negative charge whilst the substrate fabric is earthed. Flock material flies vertically onto the fabric attaching to previously applied glue.

• Screen Printing Is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to sup-port an ink-blocking stencil. The stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer elastic paint onto a substrate fabric. A roller or squeegee is moved across the screen stencil, forcing or pumping paint past the threads of the woven mesh in the open areas.

• Embroidery Is the application of graphics to materials using stitches we use computerized embroidery machines and pre-programmed patterns to carry out this work. This ma-chine embroidery, allows for different types textures, design detail and tread colours to the finished articles.

Supplementary KitOther items of playing kit in our current teamwear range include wet training jackets, tracksuits, wet weather jackets, manager jackets, warm up tops, bandanas and speedos.

We are currently in negotiations with several ball and rugby accessories suppliers to enable a signature range of ancillary items to be added to our offering.

Leisure wearWe have a proven range of tee shirts, polo shirts, hoodies, bermuda shorts, and a variety of fleeces available that can be refined to suit team colours and functional require-ments.

Our Experience

Susies Sevens Project OverviewSusies Sevens consists of several mens and women’s Rugby Sevens and Ten teams that travel predominately Europe to play in invitational tournaments.

Odin Athletic has been involved with the teams sportwear design for the last 5 years. During this time the team have been highly successful winning tournaments such as Kinsale (Ireland), Marbella, Benidorm, Costa De Banca (Spain), Brussels (Belgium), Neuchetel (Switzerland), Copenhagen (Denmark) and finish notable 2nd in Stockholm 10s on several occasions, Amsterdam, and 3rd in Cayman Island Sevens and New York Sevens.

The teams sportswear has include the standard playing kit but also covered speciality items such as lavalavas, wet weather gloves, flip-flops, speedos, bermuda shorts, bowling shirts, towels, board shorts, bandanas, groupie tops, wristbands and sunvisors.

Geneva BarbariansProject OverviewGeneva Barbarians approached Odin Athletic to provide a Rugby Sevens kit for a 2011 Beach Rugby Tournament.

Odin Athletic designed Beach Rugby specific Vest of a climate controlling material that would allow players to be well ventilated whilst reducing the opportunity for opposing sides to effect scrag tackles.

Pure Touch VestsProject OverviewPure Sports Medicine is a London based sports medicine business with several clinics based around the capital. A consequence of employing sports professionals is that they need their competitive outlets. In Autumn and Winter the company places mixed office teams in Indoor Netball and over Spring and Summer mixing teams in London Touch competitions.

Odin Athletic helped develop a distinct breathable, moisture wicking and reversible touch uniform for the team and is currently designing a uniform for the company’s upcoming mixed netball competition.
