FTP (File Transfer Protocol)• FTP (File Transfer Protocol) – an Internet Protocol used to
exchange files between computers in the Internet• You can use FTP with a simple command line interface, a
browser or FTP tools such as WS_FTP E.g. try accessing ftp://ftp.cuhk.edu.hk using a browser
• Using FTP, you can update (delete, rename, move and copy) files which are at the server side
• Nowadays, the word FTP is often abused. Many of the so-called “FTP sites” uses HTTP to transfer files– HTTP – mainly for displaying web pages– FTP – for file transfer and file operations
