Our franchise concept:In 1973 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Smoothie King pioneered the concept of blending nutritional fresh smoothies with a purpose. Using our proprietary products (proteins, various supplements, and real fruits) we continue to develop and engineer functional smoothies to meet the needs of today’s consumers. Our business is simple & clean, full of fun & energy, and most of all truly about better health. Essentially we have a dual concept with a wide array of proteins, supplements, and healthy snacks in our retail area. • Globally, there are more than 1 billion overweight adults, at least 300 million of them obese.

• Obesity and overweight pose a major risk for chronic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and stroke, and certain forms of cancer.

• The key causes are increased consumption of energy-dense foods high in saturated fats and sugars, and reduced physical activity (World Health Organization 2009).

Our History:

Smoothie King, the originator of the nutritional fruit smoothie, is a privately-held New Orleans, Louisiana-area based franchise company and is the premier smoothie bar and nutritional lifestyle center in the industry. Each Lifestyle Center also off ers healthy retail product solutions in sport beverages, energy bars, healthy snacks, herbs, minerals and sports nutrition products. Steve Kuhnau founded Smoothie King in the late 1960’s when he began making smoothies in response to his own health issues and food allergies. More than 30 years later, he and his wife Cindy, Smoothie King’s co-founder, are bringing healthy, nutritional smoothies to all of the U.S. and beyond.

Investments

The following costs are excerpted from Smoothie King’s Franchise Disclosure Document and are estimated. Each Smoothie King franchisee has the right to initially develop one store for the franchise fee of $25,000. The diff erence between low and high investment levels exists due to varying store sizes, real estate costs and expenses.

The fi nancial requirement to open a Smoothie King in the United States is $150,000 Net Worth with a minimum of $75,000 in liquid assets.
