PlanningSoftly sweet, yet sophisticated, this is a fun and quick quilt to make. Our pattern is written to exactly duplicate the quilt shown. However, feel free to play with fabric arrangements, pieced rectangle orientation, and fabric choices to make a quilt uniquely yours.

Notice that 3 of the pieced rectangles have directional fabrics; the beige arrow stripe, and both zigzag fabrics. Pay close attention to cutting and piecing instructions when sewing these rectangles.

Piecing the Blocks1. Referring to Diagram A, stitch together 1 pink floral 8" x width of fabric (WOF) strip, 1 red arrow stripe 1-1/2" x 40" strip, and 1 pink floral 3-1/2" x WOF strip to make strip set. Make 2. Cut 8 segments 6" wide to make pieced rectangles. In same manner, make remaining strip sets in fabrics and quantities shown. Cut into 6" wide segments in quantities shown for each fabric combination.

2. Referring to Diagram B, sew together 1 beige/arrow stripe 6" x 8" rectangle, 1 red arrow 1-1/2" x 6" strip, and 1 beige/arrow stripe 3-1/2" x 6" rectangle to make pieced rectangle. Make 5. In same manner, make remaining pieced rectangles in fabrics and quantities shown.

Quilt Diagram

Assembling the Quilt3. Refer to Quilt Diagram and photo for following steps. Sew 5 rows of 10 pieced rectangles each, altering orientation of rectangles as shown. Notice that orienta-tion of first rectangle in each row alternates. Stitch rows together to make quilt center.

4. Sew red arrow 55-1/2" strips to top/ bottom of quilt. Stitch remaining red arrow strips to sides of quilt. Stitch dark pink zigzag 57-1/2" strips to top/bottom of quilt, watching orientation closely. Zigzag shapes appear to chase one another around quilt. Sew remaining zigzag strips to sides, again watching orientation.

Finishing the Quilt5. Layer quilt with batting and yellow dimple backing. Quilt as desired. Bind with red floral to finish the quilt.
