What is Intro to IHL training about? The Introduction to International Humanitarian Law (IHL) training is approximately an hour and a half online lecture. The workshop covers the definition of IHL, looks at its guiding principles and essential rules, and explores the basics of the Geneva Conventions and its Additional Protocols. The workshop’s interactive activities apply the Geneva Conventions in case studies, examines the international criminal system, and discusses contemporary issues and how IHL applies.
Why take Intro to IHL training? Disseminating information about IHL and its related issues is integrally linked with the history and the vital ongoing mandate of the Red Cross Movement. The more we know about IHL, the more we understand how IHL impacts human life and dignity.
Who should take IHL training? All Canadian Red Cross staff & volunteers, and Canadians from all walks of life who wish to better understand what rights and laws are present during armed conflicts.
