Why is it called “Fundamental Elements”?
Fundamental Elements in the Overall R&D for EGNSS
Commission task: Coordination of EGNSS R&D, ensure complementary and consistency
• Mission And Services [2015-2017] ~ 14 M€
• System And Infrastructure: [2015-2017] ~ 150 M€
• Fundamental Elements 100 M€ until 2020
• Applications [2015-2017] ~ 60 M€.
Objectives of the Fundamental ElementsDevelop EGNOS and Galileo-enabled chipsets, receivers, user terminals and other associated technologies that will:
Facilitate the adoption of the European GNSS Systems building on innovative services and differentiators
Increase the EU industry competitiveness Push through Close-to-market innovation actions
Address the user needs in priority market segments, maximising the benefits for the citizens
Budget envelope• 111,5 million Euro (100 million discounted to 2014 budget)• To be spent between 2014 and 2020• Delegated to the GSA via Galileo & EGNOS Delegation Agreement
Fundamental Elements so far• 5 projects already published
– Aviation DFMC SBAS receiver– Safety critical E-GNSS engine– Payment and reliability critical E-GNSS engine– High-end professional receivers and corresponding antennas– Low-end mass market receiver core technologies development
Combined EU BUDGET: 32.3 M EUR
• 7 projects upcoming in 2016– Mix of Grants + Procurements – For a total EU BUDGET of > 20 M EUR
