Identifying good practices

▪ A policy related initiative (project, process, technique, etc.) which has

proved to be successful in a region and which can be a source of

inspiration to other regions”

Les Petits Riens (2LIFES project) – this good practice is about the well-established

network of collection points (600) and second-hand clothing shops (33) in the Brussels

Capital Region collecting over 8,000 tons of textiles on yearly basis and contributing to

job creation in the fields of collection, sorting, reuse, repair and second-hand sales ( over

300 employees, 300 volunteers, training opportunities).

Improving policy instruments

▪ “a means for public intervention. It refers to any policy, strategy, or law

developed by public authorities and applied on the ground in order to

improve a specific territorial situation”

The Better Energy Community is a policy instrument which supports wide-

ranging community initiatives, including SME participation, for low carbon

economy. It is the national retrofit initiative with grant support of up to MEUR 28

each year. It supports new approaches to achieving energy efficiency in Irish

communities. It aims to deliver energy savings to homeowners, communities,

enterprises.
