I am reaching out about some opportunities for your students to participate in career exploration and internship programs this fall.
Career Essentials, an afterschool work-readiness and career exploration program for high school students (February – June)
The Internship Program, a paid mentored internship program, with work-readiness training and career exploration activities (Ongoing throughout the semester)
Please see below for more detailed information about these programs. I’ve also attached promotional materials to this email.
Please see below for more detailed information about these programs…. Career Essentials Students in the Career Essentials program attend one orientation and twelve weekly two-hour workshops, each held in our office in the Financial District. Participants in the program learn how to professionally interview, present information to a group, behave in a professional environment, manage their time, and create an effective resume. Each student also participates in two career exploration field trips that give them a chance to learn about different industries and network with professionals who are willing to share career advice and insights from their own lives. Career Essentials affords students an opportunity to learn and form relationships with other students from all five boroughs. Students will receive a small stipend upon successfully completing the program. Accepted students will attend the program from 4:30 to 6:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays this spring from the week of February 27th through the week of June 12th. The program is open to all high school students in New York City, but we consider it especially appropriate for underclassmen to prepare them for future internship opportunities. We have 75 total spots available for this spring. Applications for Career Essentials are due Monday, February 6. Interested students can apply online at this link; (https://www.futuresandoptions.org/fao/what_we_do/how_to_apply/#preinternapply)
