What is Prezi?Prezi is an online presentation tool which allows the user to create presentations without limitations of keeping within a certain amount of space which means they can make vast mind maps and paths to track the though process.How did I use it?I used it to produce presentations for planning and research as well as for my evaluation. You can view other people’s presentations but this was something that I didn’t use.UsabilityIt was a very useful program to use and it was simple to get used to and the tutorial meant that I could get the most out of it.Advantages of PreziIt allowed me to follow a trail of thought without restrictions of space like Powerpoint and I could import pictures and videos easily and add annotations. Another useful feature of Prezi was the ability to create paths so it can be viewed like a presentation as well as be viewed as a giant mind map.Disadvantages of Prezi It is a relatively new program and such websites as Wordpress and Wix don’t allow it to be embedded which means a link needs to be used instead which is less effective. The sizing button was difficult to get used to.Overall view of PreziIt was a simple program that made my planning and evaluation a lot easier to complete in a creative way. It’s a modern take on something that has become a part of projects such as this.

What is Youtube?Youtube is one of, if not the largest, video sharing website which allows users to upload, view and share videos and write comments on as well as rate.How did I use it?I used Youtube to view the official music videos for research purposes, such as in the analysis of conventions as well as the 9 shot analysis I did. Youtube was also the site I put my finished Music Video onto. UsabilityPrior to this project, I had used Youtube before and had produced an account in Year 12 specifically for Media A Level and so I knew how to upload videos and view videos. It is simple to use and is very accessible.Advantages of YoutubeYoutube is such a large video sharing website that it meant I could find the official music videos easily and uploading my own video was simple. Youtube is used by so many, I could be sure that it was a suitable place to put my final product onto.Disadvantages of Youtube The fact Youtube is so big and well-known means it has become ridden with advertising and so in wanting to view an official music video I had to watch several adverts before doing so. Overall view of YoutubeIt is such a well-known and easy to use website that is thriving with the vast number of users.

What is Flickr?Flickr is a image and video sharing site that allows its users to embed them into a blog and it is in essence a social media site.How did I use it?I used Flickr to search for an image of a cow’s face close up as we felt we would be unable to take an image like that ourselves. We found a really great image and requested permission to use it, which was granted.UsabilityIt was easy to search the images to find what we wanted. As the user puts tags on for searches, it meant that a variety of images came up with ‘cow’ but that meant there was a lot of choice.Advantages of FlickrIt is used by so many people that add really good quality images. It is often used by amateur photographers which means the images are often more like what I wanted than that of a professional photographer.Disadvantages of FlickrThe images offered on Flickr were so much better than that off Google Images and we could be sure that they weren’t copyrighted and so for that reason, there were no real downsides to using Flickr. Overall view of FlickrIt was easy to use and we found an image that fitted the criteria.

What is Jamendo?Jamendo is a internet site that allows users to upload their music, whether it be in track or album form and also to download music that is Royalty-Free.How did I use it?I used Jamendo to find a song and band I could use for this project and as it is Royalty-Free, it adhered to my needs.UsabilityIt has an easy to use interface and I could search for a song quickly by typing in the genre I wanted.Advantages of JamendoAll its music is Royalty-Free and this met the requirements of our project and we were able to find a song that fitted the style we wanted. It had the option to preview the song and if it belonged to an album, Jamendo presents the music like other sites allowing the user to listen to each song, one after another without changing page.Disadvantages of JamendoAll the music is categorised by the artist and so for some of the songs, what I thought was in the genre I required, it was only a sub-genre which made it more difficult in searching. Overall view of Jamendo It was a very useful website that allowed us to find a suitable song and band and downloading the song to use in Adobe Premiere CS4 was quick and simple to do.

What is Wordpress?Wordpress is a blogging site which allows the user to select a theme and post regular entries.How did I use it?I used this to document the process of making the music video as well as ancillary texts. You can view other people’s blogs and this was useful as it allowed me to see the progress of my team in terms of individual work as well as the group work. We benefited from what each other had done and could save time through knowing what stage we were all up to before meeting together.UsabilityIt was quite difficult to get used to as they had updated it since I used it last year. This meant creating categories for easy navigation took time to produce. Advantages of WordpressIt is very simple to post a blog entry and I could produce as many as I wanted. Being able to put links in was useful when it didn’t allow me to embed certain things in. For the majority of things I wanted to embed, mostly images and videos, it was perfectly easy to use and meant my project was documented from beginning to end in chronological order. Disadvantages of Wordpress The categories were hard to set up and took time that I could have used writing my blog entries. It didn’t always allow me to embed everything I wanted to embed and so this was restrictive. The themes were not particularly fitting to the purpose of the blog and so I had to choose quite a plain blog theme to make it easy to navigate and view my work.Overall view of WordpressFor the purpose, it was a simple blogging website that I was able to access both at college and at home. (Blogspot, for example, is banned on the college network – no idea why)

What is Slideshare?Slideshare is a internet site which allows its users to not only view others presentations/documents/PDF files that they have posted, but also upload their own.How did I use it?I used it in the planning and research part as well as in the evaluation aspect of this project as it was simple way of getting my powerpoint presentations and word documents onto the internet in an accessible form.UsabilityIt is easy to view the documents and powerpoints produced and uploading was simple to do and took very little time.Advantages of SlideshareIt is an effective way of getting documents I have produced on programmes such as Powerpoint Presentation and Word onto the internet that can be accessed by many people.Disadvantages of SlideshareIt is catered purely for PDF, Word and Powerpoints and doesn’t allow for other programs like Excel but for the purpose of this project, it had everything I required to upload what I needed to. Overall view of SlideshareIt is a simple and effective way to get documents viewable on the internet.
