Do you rethink your legacy?At last year´s IUG, Software AG presented the „Adabas & Natural 2050+“ initiative. 2017 has proven that our effort regarding product innovation, new service offerings and continuous optimization means customer success. Michael will present what has been achieved and how we will go on. Leveraging the existing is the fastest and cheapest way to digitalization: Save costs on or off the mainframe, modernize your business and mission-critical applications, and transform your business and IT architecture to digitalize your legacy.

Can you afford NOT to zIIP?On April 17th, just in time for the IUG, Software AG will release Adabas for zIIP—the next and logical step after Natural for zIIP. This session will explain what Adabas for zIIP is all about and how Adabas and Natural utilize IBM’s zIIP to significantly reduce mainframe costs. Hear about first experiences from the Adabas for zIIP Early Participation Program where customers were seeing 90% offload to zIIP in some cases.

Quickly responding to change is a key idea of the agile manifesto. In a modern development world, the time it takes to publish new features to the production environment has to be minimized. Continuous Deployment is a process for releasing changes to production automatically after each commit to source control. This talk shows how ALTE OLDENBURGER Krankenversicherung AG deploys their 20-year-old Adabas/Natural application multiple times a day with the help of NaturalONE, Git and Jenkins. The deployment process takes about 12 minutes and is executed without any human interaction at all. Some of the benefits for the developers are faster feedback loops, shorter release cycles and no more manual deployments after office hours.

Can green screen applications be tested with DevOps?The new Natural Screen Tester automates testing of green-screen-based Natural business functions. Nissan North America has been a Software AG customer since early 1980s. We utilize thousands of Natural programs and have nearly one hundred Adabas databases. After years of failed projects, Nissan called Software AG’s Professional Services. They assembled a team that propelled us from 11 years out of support to Adabasv834, Natural826, and Vista822, which replaces 25-year-old custom code. We engaged SUPER TEAM… Gerry McCann, and Osman Sanchez. Five months and 90+ Adabas database upgrades later, we went live on Nov 11, 2017. We would like to tell this great success story at the conference.

Are you ready for API management?Natural and COBOL server applications can be called by the webMethods Integration Server using the EntireX Adapter. With the next version of the EntireX Adapter this functionality has been enhanced such that a REST resource will be created automatically on request. This REST resource can be used immediately in a REST API enablement scenario. Part of the presentation will be a live demonstration of this new EntireX functionality.

What are the news around Adabas Event Replicator?Learn how to leverage Integration Server for customization and extend the reach of Event Replicator for Adabas! Mid-April 2018, the new Alfabet release 10.2 will be GA. This new release addresses essential capabilities for successful digitalization: agile development, API management, data protection and speed in IT delivery. This presentation will discuss and demonstrate the highlights of the new release including further integration with JIRA, extended API definition, data anonymization, event management and several new and enhanced visualizations. Microservices are used to decompose an application into a suite of smaller services, each running separately and communicating with lightweight mechanisms.
