CONFIRMATION OF ENROLMENT FORMS / VISAS:Oncetheinitialdepositisreceived,AITTwillthenforwardyouanelectronicConfirmationofEnrolment(eCoE)whichisrequiredforthefinalisationofyourstudentvisaapplicationbyDepartmentofImmigrationandBorderProtection(DIBP).Pleaseensuretocheckthestudentvisaapplicationrequirementsatwww.border.gov.au.Students fromdifferentnationalitiesmayberequiredtoapply forPre–VisaAssessmentbeforeforwardingtheirinitialdepositandsecuringtheireCoE.

5. OVERSEAS STUDENT HEALTH COVER:AllinternationalstudentsmusthavehealthinsurancethroughtheOverseasStudentHealthCover(OSHC)scheme.ItistheresponsibilityofthestudenttoensurethattheOSHCisuptodate.StudentsmayapplyforOSHCbythemselvesorcanrequestAITTtoarrangeitontheirbehalf.PleasenotethatthecostofOSHCisseparatetotuitionfeeandenrolmentfee.

1. CONDITIONS OF ENROLMENT1.1AITTreservestherighttocancelacoursenotlaterthanonemonthpriortothecommencementdate,inwhichcaseafullrefundofallfeespaidwillbe

madewithintwoweeks.1.2 Astudentisenrolledfortheperiodforwhichtuitionfeeshavebeenpaid.Iftuitionfeeshavenotbeenpaid,thestudent’senrolmentmaybecancelledat

theendofinternalappealsprocess.1.3AITTisrequiredtoreporttoDIBPininstanceswhereastudentfailstomakeacademicprogressintwoconsecutivestudyperiods.Allstudentsarenotified

beforehand,oftheAITT’sintentionofreportingthestudenttoDIBPandareprovidedwith20workingdaystoaccesstheAITT’scomplaintsandappealsprocess.AcademicProgressisreviewedineachstudyperiod.Internationalstudentsarerequiredtoensurethattheyrepeatanysubjects/unitsfailedinthatperiodsoastoensurecompletionoftheircoursewithinthedurationspecifiedontheireCOEwherepossible.DetailedinformationontheAITT’sAcademicProgressPolicyandtheComplaintsandAppealsProceduresisavailableatwww.aitt.vic.edu.auandwillbecoveredintheInternationalStudentsOrientationProgram.

1.4AllstudentsareboundbytheAITT’sStudentCodeofConduct.DetailedinformationontheAITT’srulesandregulationsareavailableinStudentHandbookandiscoveredduringtheInternationalStudentOrientationProgram.Failuretoadheretotheseregulationsmayleadtothesuspensionorcancellationofthestudent’senrolment.Studentswillbeprovidedwith20workingdaystoaccesstheAITT’scomplaintsandappealsprocess.DetailedinformationontheAITT’spolicyoncancellation/suspension/deferralofanInternationalstudentenrolmentiscontainedintheStudentHandbookandwillbecoveredintheOrientationProgram.

1.5TheNationalCode2007restrictsthecapacityofstudentstotransfertoothersproviderspriortocompletingsixmonthsoftheirprincipalcourse.AITTwillnotallowstudentstotransfertoanotherproviderwithinsixmonthsofthecommencementoftheirprincipalcourseofstudyincircumstanceswherethetransferwouldbedetrimentaltothestudyplanasdetailedinthisapplication.Circumstancesthatareconsidereddetrimentaltoastudent’sstudyplancouldbebutarenotlimitedto:

•Changeinstudyplan•Transfertoalowerlevelofstudies•Increasedtuitioncosts,particularlyincasewheredepositspaidinadvancetoAITTarenonrefundable•IncreaseddurationofstudiesinAustralia•Insufficientpreparationforfurtherstudies•QualificationsnotrecognisedbyHigherEducationProvidersassatisfyingtheirentryrequirements•Levelofsupportservicesatnewproviderisnotequivalent•Transferwouldjeopardisestudent’sprogressionthroughapackageofcourses•Within6monthsofacoursebeginningstudentsmayexperiencehomesicknessandtransfertoanotherregisteredproviderisnotlikelytoovercomethisproblem

visahasbeengranted.Studentwillneedtoformallyapplyforthechangeofcourse.1.7Studentswishingtoapplyfora‘letterofrelease’willneedtocompleteaRequestForm,availablefromAITTreception.Thisformwillprovideinformation

onAITT’sproceduresfortheassessmentofsuchapplicationsandthemechanismforthestudenttoappeal.Thereisnocostattachedtoapplyingforaletterofrelease;howeverstudentwillneedtocontactDIBPtoseekadviceonwhetheranewvisaisrequired.Ininstanceswhereareleaseletterisgranted,AITT’sFeePaymentandRefundProcedureswillbeappliedtoanyFeeandChargesRefundrequestreceived.

DetailedinformationonAITT’stransferpolicybetweenregisteredprovidersiscontainedinStudentHandbookandwillbecoveredduringtheInternationalStudentOrientationProgram.

1.8TheNationalCode2007requiresInternationalstudentstocompletetheircoursewithinthedurationspecifiedontheireCOEexceptinlimitedcircumstances.Inthesecircumstances,AITTwillissueaneweCOEtoextendthedurationofstudyforthecourse.Studentmayberequiredtopaytuitionfeefortheextendeddurationbasedonthereasonsforextension.

DetailedinformationisavailableintheStudentInformationBookletandwillalsobecoveredduringtheOrientationProgram.1.9TheNationalCode2007requiresinternationalstudentstokeepAITTinformedoftheircurrentaddressatalltimes.Itisstudents’responsibilitytonotify

AITTadministrationofanychangeintherecordedaddressduringtheperiodofenrolment.Thiscanbedonebyfilingthe“ChangeofPersonalDetailsForm”.1.10InternationalStudentsmayapplyforCreditTransfer/RecognitionofPriorLearningwithinTWOweeksofthecoursecommencementdateiftheyhavenot

appliedforthesameatthetimeofenrolment.Wherepossiblestudentswillbeencouragedtoenrolinadditionalsubjects/modulesthatmayenablethemtoreducethedurationoftheircourse-inwhichcaseaneweCOEwillbeissued.AdetailedCourseCreditpolicyandprocedureisavailableintheStudentHandbook,ontheAITTwebsitewww.aitt.vic.edu.auandwillbecoveredintheOrientationProgram.

1.11InternationalStudentsmustmaintainadequatehealthcoverforthemselvesandanymemberoftheirfamilyunitwhoarewiththemduringtheirstayinAustralia.

1.12StudentsneedwrittenpermissionfromAITTtodeferorsuspendtheircourses.Incaseswherepermissionisgranted,DIBPwillbeadvisedviaPRISMS.Informationpertainingtothecircumstancesinwhichastudentmaydefer,suspendorcanceltheirenrolmentiscontainedintheStudentHandbookandAITTwebsitewww.aitt.vic.edu.au.

1.13AITTisrequiredtoadviseDIBPwhenastudentfailstocommenceacoursewithoutapprovalontheexpecteddate,withdrawsbeforethecourseends,orchangesthecoursehe/sheinitiallyenrolledin.

1.14Studentswhoareunabletocommencetheircourseontheexpecteddatemaybegivenuptotwoweekstocommence.Aftertwoweeksthestudentmaynotbeguaranteedaplaceinthecourse.Ifthestudentsarriveaftertheagreeddate,theymayberequiredtoreturnhomeorplacedinanEnglishLanguageprogramuntilthenextavailablecommencementdateforthecourse.

1.15Feeandchargesaresubjecttochangewithpriornotice.Asemesterisastudyperiodcomprisingof18-20weeksofteaching.Coursefeesarechargedinfullforeachsemesterandmustbepaid2weekspriortotheagreedstartdate.

2.1InformationiscollectedintheApplicationFormandduringyourenrolmentinordertomeetourobligationundertheESOSActandtheNationalCode2007;toensurestudentcompliancewiththeconditionsoftheirvisasandtheirobligationsunderAustralianImmigrationLawsgenerally.TheauthoritytocollecttheinformationiscontainedintheEducationServicesforOverseasStudentsRegulationsandtheNationalCodeofPracticeforRegistrationAuthoritiesandProvidersofEducationandTrainingtoOverseasStudents2007.Informationcollectedaboutyouonthisformandduringyourenrolmentcanbeprovided,incertaincircumstances,totheAustralianGovernmentanddesignatedauthoritiesand,ifrelevant,theTuitionProtectionService(TPS).Inotherinstancesinformationcollectedonthisformorduringyourenrolmentcanbedisclosedwithoutyourconsentwhereauthorisedorrequiredbylaw.

2.2InformationheldonstudentfilesincludingRequestForms,academicprogressreportsetc.belongstoAITT.Thisinformationmaybegiventoauthorisedgovernmentdepartmentsbutwillnotbemadeavailabletostudents,thegeneralpublicorthirdparties.

2.3ByenrollingatAITT,thestudentagreesthatinformationrelatingtoacademicperformancemaybemadeavailabletotheirparentsorwelfarecarerwhereapplicable.

3.1AITTonlyacceptsresponsibilityforinformationgiventooverseasstudentsfromthefollowingsources:•TheStudentHandbook,•AITT’swebsitewww.aitt.vic.edu.au•AITTpersonnel•AITTAccreditedoverseasagents3.2 AITTdoesnotacceptliabilityforinformationprovidedbysourcesotherthanthese.

4.1 ToassistyouwithadjustingtolifeinAustralia,AITTcanarrangeforaFREEpickupfromtheairporttoyourpre-arrangedaccommodation.4.2StudentsarerequiredtonotifyAITToftheirflightnumber,dateandtimeofarrivalatleast7daysinadvance.4.3AITTdoesnotacceptliabilityforanychangestoarrivaltimesunlessnotificationisreceived3workingdaysinadvance.
