Chapter Six President

Hello Chapter 6:
Now that Halloween has come and gone, many
people and organizations are gearing up for the
holiday season and Chapter 6 is no exception.
Next month is our Holiday Banquet, I hope
everyone plans on attending as we have decided
to shake things up this year. Be sure to keep an
eye out for our Save the Date fliers containing
exciting details, it may just be the best one yet!
Our speaker this month is a Pipeline Safety
Community Liaison from the Pipeline and
Hazardous Material Safety Administration
(PHMSA). Dave Mulligan will share with us the
role his agency plays within the oil and gas
industry. With so many related news stories and
articles released as of late, pipeline safety has
certainly become a trending topic of discussion
across the front range. I am confident this will be
a relevant and insightful presentation; I look
forward to learning more from Mr. Mulligan.
If you plan on attending the meeting next Tuesday
evening please follow this link to RSVP.

Greetings and Happy Fall!!!
This is a story I don’t share too often, but it emphasizes an important point for the current eNews entitled, “Two
Sides to Every Situation.” Years ago when quietly slipping out of the witness stand during my divorce proceeding,
I heard the judge announce, “There’s several sides to a story: there’s his story, her story, and the truth.” Although
a three-sided story typically applies in a court of law, most events in life are two sides. Thoughtfully considering
these two sides should lead us to our best pathway.
It is the power of choice that beckons us to lean toward one side or the other. I’ve often wondered about some
of my own choices in life and hoped I had given enough time to flesh out the truth of my reality. Was I impatient
and too eager to “get this over with, already!” Or did I pray about, think about, focus enough to consider the
if/then philosophy in outcomes

Governor John Hickenlooper recently appointed four new Board and Commission
members at the Colorado Division of Real Estate. One of those appointed was our own
IRWA member and Past Chapter Six President Bonnie Deane Roerig to the Board of
Real Estate Appraisers!
The Board meets monthly to conduct rulemaking hearings, make policy
decisions, consider licensing matters, review complaints and take disciplinary
action against real estate appraisers. The Board consists of three licensed or
certified appraisers, one county assessor, one banker with experience in
mortgage lending, and two members of the public.
Bonnie will serve as one of three licensed appraisers for a three-year term.

Wheat Ridge will not challenge judge’s crackdown on
urban renewal limits Court: City overstepped its authority in requiring voter approval of
financing of large projects. The Wheat Ridge City Council late Monday
decided not to challenge a recent court ruling that invalidated
restrictions the city had placed on the use of urban renewal tactics,
intensifying a debate over an issue that has proven divisive in
Colorado’s economic development circles. The council voted 5-3 to not
appeal last month’s Jefferson County District Court ruling, with the
majority saying an appeal could take a year to work its way through the
court and would slow development in the city. READ MORE
Colorado towns fight oil and gas ops by making new
rules, but industry is ready to fight back At least four towns are ready to go to the mat to control how industry
operates within their boundaries
Colorado residents fed up with what they see as the state’s failure to
protect people and the environment are fighting fossil-fuel
development inside their towns by making new rules requiring odor
control, bigger setbacks and company disclosure of underground oil
and gas flowlines. But the industry and state government are ready to
fight back. Erie, Broomfield, Thornton and Lafayette are each
developing map submission rules, with leaders saying the fatal April 17
house explosion in Firestone makes this a no-brainer. Broomfield
residents also will vote on whether to change their charter to require
protection of health, safety and the READ MORE
Family fighting loss of farm to city project The city of Colorado Springs has declared eminent domain, so they can

a creek; we don't know what to do."
The city is forcing the family to sell 120 acres off Bradley Road near
Marksheffel. The property has READ MORE
