AMADEUS VIENNA will be conducting our very first Master Class in Bad Goisern this year. Our participants will be offered a rare opportunity to learn from revered musicians and internationally respected teachers, to compare themselves with gifted young talents from all over the world and will be provided a combination of highly intensive training courses in the beautiful small town of Bad Goisern, nestled within the centre of Austria’s famous “Sound of Music” country, the Salz-kammergut, not far from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s hometown Salzburg.

Prof. Rolf-Dieter Arens was born in Zinnwald (Germany) and studied piano from the age of five. He taught at the Leipzig and Weimar Schools of Music and gained his pro-fessorship of piano at the Franz Liszt School of Music in Weimar, where he was also principal between 2001and 2010. He toured Europe, Asia and South America as a solo artist and chamber musician and is regularly on the judging panel at international music competitions. His work is documented with a wealth of radio and TV recordings and albums. Professor Arens founded the chamber music association „Weimarer Solisten“ and is the new president of the Leipzig Cultural Foundation. In 2011 he was awarded the Premio Liszt prize.

Prof. Beatrice Berthold is the only German contemporary female pianist to have made a name for herself in the inter-national music press for her interpretations of Russian virtuoso piano music. She is Professor at the Hannover School of Music and gives master classes throughout the world, for example in Germany, Chile (University of San-tiago) Lithuania (Academy of Music, Vilnius) and at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

Prof. Filippo Faes is a professor of piano at the Conserva-tory of Castelfranco Veneto and gives master classes in Europe, the USA, New Zealand and Singapore. He is one of Italy‘s most celebrated pianists, winner of numerous competitions, such as the Dortmund Schubert Competi-tion 1989. He is a soloist on all international stages, celebrated by the media as one of the most profound and creative performers of his generation.

Prof. Jonathan Fox studied at The Juilliard School in New York with Roland Kohloff, the former Principal Timpanist of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Fox graduated from Boston University. In addition to his responsibilities as solo timpanist and percussionist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and as professor at the Yong Siew Toh Con-servatory of Music in Singapore, he is an active concert and marching recitalist and teacher across North America and Asia.

Prof. Jiri Heger, born in Czechoslovakia, graduated from the Prague Conservatory. He was principal violist and soloist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra for more than 20 years. Being an active performing artist, he teaches at the Singapore Yong Siew Toh Conservatory. He is also instrumental in nurturing many young Singaporean musicians; many of his students won top prizes in the National Music Competitions in violin and viola.

Hu Nai-yuan is an American violinist born in Taiwan. He was the first winner of the 1985 Queen Elisabeth Music Competition prize and is one of the most celebrated Asian soloists and violin teachers of today. He plays the Ex-Hubay Stradivarius. Hu was featured as a violinist in the 2001 film “Kate and Leopold” starring Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman.

Prof. Boris Kraljevic, born in Montenegro, studied piano at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with Profes-sor Lev Naumov. Beside his concert performances, Boris Kraljevic also conducts master classes worldwide. He is professor at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singa-pore, at the Music Academy in Sarajevo and in Belgrade. His students are prizewinners at numerous national and international piano competitions.

Prof. Qin Liwei has established a formidable reputation as a cellist on the international concert scene and is well known for his brilliant virtuosity, refined musicality and sincerity of interpretation. He has won several prestigious awards including a silver medal at the 11th Tchaikovsky International Competition; Qin has recently been appointed Artistic Director of the Jin Mao Concert Hall in Shanghai. He now lives in Singapore and plays a Giuseppe Guadagnini cello from 1780, which was loanded to him by the Goh-Family collection.

Prof. Benjamin Schmid is an Austrian violinist who was born in Vienna and grew up in Salzburg. In 1992 he won the Carl Flesch Competition in London. Since then he has performed on the world’s major stages with renowned orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, London, the St. Petersburg Phil-harmonic Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic Orches-tra, under conductors such as Seiji Ozawa and Daniel Barenboim. He teaches violin at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and gives master classes in Switzerland.

Erik Schumann was born in Cologne (Germany) to German and Romanian-Japanese parents. He studied violin with Zakhar Bron and Pinchas Zukerman. Schumann regularly performs with renowned orchestras in Europe, Asia and the USA, including the NDR Orchestra Hamburg, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Zürich Tonhalle Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, and the Orchestre National de France. Erik Schumann plays a 1713 Antonio Stradivarius violin.

Franz Wagnermayer studied trumpet at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz, at the Univer-sity of Music Vienna, with Bo Nilsson, Pierre Thibaud and Otto Sauter. He performed with Euregio trumpet ensembles and was a member of various orchestras, such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. His solo career includes concerts with the South Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic, the Mar-tinu Orchestra of Brno, Concert tours in Italy, France, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Canada.

Our master class offers:

- At least six hours of individual training for each participant, for example by members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, professors of the Salzburg Mozarteum, and other famous musicians.

- Intensive orchestral training, chamber music rehearsals and stage performance classes.

- The number of students per class will not exceed ten.

- At the end of the master classes all students will perform a final concert.

- Each participant will receive the “AMADEUS VIENNA Classical Music Excellence Certifi-cate”.

*The aforementioned artists have registered their attendance. For later cancellation due to illness or force majeure, we can assume no liability.

Fees and Registration

Master Class Fee € 1 390 Inclusive of 6 individual lessons

Admission criteria

- Minimum Grade B knowledge of a classical musical instrument - which means no basic beginner, but advanced players. - Submission of a short video clip of a freely chosen piece, about 2-3 minutes. - No age limitation.

1. Complete and email Registration Form together with link to video clip and receipt of payment by bank transfer to [email protected]

2. Upon receipt of completed Registration Form and Master Class Fee, the contract is in effect. AMADEUS VIENNA will send you a written confirmation of registration as well as a confirmation of payment.

3. Please note that cancellations by students are accepted until 6 weeks before the master class starts. A cancellation fee of 50% of the master class fee will be deducted. In case of later cancellation or non-appearance, the cancellation fee is 100%. All cancellations must be in writing.

4. In case of cancellation of a master class course by AMADEUS VIENNA the master class fee will be reimbursed immediately. No further claims, in particular for expenses or compensation or loss of earnings due to the cancellation of the master class course will be met.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The following terms and conditions apply for the International Music Master Classes 2012: 1. Conclusion of the contract

Upon receipt of this signed registration sheet and the master class fee the contract is in effect between the signatory and THEMES VIENNA Ltd. & Co. KG, Schottenring 16, 2nd Floor, 1010 Vienna, Austria, the owner and operator of AMADEUS VIENNA. AMADEUS VIENNA will send you a written confirmation of registration as well as a confirmation of payment.

2. Cancellation policy

Cancellations by students are accepted until 6 weeks before the master class starts. A cancellation fee of 50% of the master class fee will be deducted. In case of later cancellation or non-appearance, the cancellation fee is 100%. All cancellations must be in writing. In case of cancellation of master class course by AMADEUS VIENNA the master class fee will be reimbursed immediately. Further claims, in particular expenses or compensation or loss of earnings due to the cancellation of the master class course are excluded.

3. Liability and damages

AMADEUS VIENNA´s liability for personal injury is limited to that stipulated by Austrian law. AMADEUS VIENNA accepts no liability whatsoever for loss of money or clothing and/or loss of/damage to musical instruments or other articles of value of any kind whatsoever. As for the rest, the liability is limited to intent or gross negligence.

4. Minors

Students who are minors (under 18 years of age) should be accompanied by their parent(s) or legal guardian(s). AMADEUS VIENNA recommends Avisita (www.avisita.at) for age-appropriate supervision of minors who are not accompanied by their parent(s) or legal guardian(s). AMADEUS VIENNA does not provide supervision of minors other than during the courses of a master class. We therefore strongly advise to book supervision for minors with Avisita.

5. House rules

Students must abide by the house rules at each course location, compulsory schools and music schools (e.g. to wear indoor shoes, eating and drinking only in designated areas)

6. Photo approval (if chosen above)

The student or parent/guardian gives AMADEUS VIENNA his/her consent to the release and publication of pictures and moving images of him-/herself or the student in connection with AMADEUS VIENNA – in particular, use on the internet site of AMADEUS VIENNA, on AMADEUS VIENNA printed material (e.g. flyers, school brochures) as well as in press articles and television reports about AMADEUS VIENNA.

7. Governing Law and Courts

The contract will be governed by the laws of Austria and the parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Austrian courts. I agree with the above mentioned terms and conditions and I apply for the course indicated above. Location Date DD-MM-YYYY Signature of parents/ guardians
