Focusing Our Vision

A new international team has been in place since October 2010, and are agreed that God has joined us together for purpose. He is resharpening and refocusing us to be a family together on mission, and is giving us a fresh passion together that his gospel should be heard in every corner of the earth. Therefore we are calling our International Leaders Conference 2012 – Finding our Voice.

International Leaders Conference is open to everyone, at any level of leadership in any of our churches! No special invitation required! We look forward to welcoming 800-1000 delegates, representing all walks of life, many levels of maturity and as many nations as possible! International Leaders Conference will include inspiring teaching, workshops and seminars, God-centred worship, personal ministry and plenty of time to connect with friends old and new.

TravelWhere possible we recommend that overseas delegates fly into London Heathrow, as the most direct connection to Oxford, although other London airports are also well-serviced with buses and trains. Please visit the conference website for suggestions.

First time to UK?We undertake to meet visitors unfamiliar with the UK at London airports, and arrange travel to Oxford. Please let us know whether you require this help when booking.

UK and European delegatesPlease note that the conference is slightly shorter than previous European conferences, to allow for the Senior Leaders Forum. We are unable to subsidise mainland European places delegates this year. If you need financial assistance, please talk in the first instance to your regional team (e.g. Destinée, Nordic, etc.) or your main link with the S&L family.

Developing world delegatesWe aim to host most delegates from the developing world free of charge with local church families, to keep your costs to a minimum. We are unable to offer help from conference funds with travel costs, except where already discussed. We can offer help supporting visa applications, although we recommend very early application – the UK immigration regime is now very strict! Please email the office for more information on [email protected]

ChildcareChildcare (excluding evening sessions) is free of charge, but is only available up to 18 months and parents are required to help with at least 1 session. Please do not bring children older than 18 months to the conference! Spaces are limited, so please book early.

As part of finding a new sense of togetherness as an international family of churches, we are also asking some of our key international leaders to minister, including J B Masinde (who leads a very large church in Umoja, Kenya), Doug Kreighbaum (leader of Coast to Coast, a network of churches in USA) and Steve Thomas (international team leader). Members of the international team will also lead some of our workshops.

International Leaders Conference will be preceded by a 24-hour Senior Leaders Forum for up to 250 congregational and national leaders, including time for national/regional teams to meet together. Invitations will be issued separately for this, via national team leaderships. This 24-hour forum is entitled Focusing our Vision.

With good international transport links and recent experience of hosting the large European Leaders Conference, we will be hosting International Leaders Conferences at The King’s Centre, Oxford, UK.

We look forward to welcoming you to Oxford in 2012 and to seeing what God does among us as we meet together as an international family!

Steve & Lorraine ThomasEvent Hosts on behalf of the International Team

We are delighted to have, as a key guest speaker, David Macfarlane. An engaging speaker, trainer, and motivator, David Macfarlane is the Director of National Initiatives for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada, and has become a good friend to some of our Salt & Light churches in North America. He travels constantly, speaking at

conferences and meeting with leaders, and this extensive travel gives him a unique perspective on the innovative things God is doing. David led local congregations that ‘turned around’ and grew through prayerful and sustainable strategic outreach. David brought his passion for evangelism and discipleship from his native Latin America and loves to help Christians find new ways to engage their world with the Gospel. Visit the conference website to find out more about David, including links to some of his talks.
