Choose between classes to improve your everyday English, study for an
English language exam, get ready for a new job or prepare for University
in the UK. Our teachers focus on your goals and interests to help you learn
the language that is most useful for you. We teach English at 13 different
levels so you’ll be learning with people of similar ability in small classes of
12 -14 students to help you make fast progress. Don’t forget that you can also
combine different courses to make your learning experience at IH London
exactly right for you.
At IH London we have a vibrant and friendly student community with

Study in London
a great place to learn
learning outside the classroom
what are the facilities like?
Our school is in the centre of London – just a few minutes from Covent Garden. Our location makes IH London an exciting and inspiring place to study. With students of so many nationalities you’ll soon make friends from many different backgrounds to explore the city.
Many of our experienced teachers trained with us. They understand that students learn in different ways and as we keep class sizes small (between 12 - 14 students) you will always get the support you need.
At IH London we think it’s very important that you learn the language you need for daily life. That’s why your teacher will give you suggestions for using English in real life situations – for example catching the bus, ordering in a café or going shopping.
Discussing your experience in class afterwards, and getting feedback from your teacher, will help you learn.
We also run a fantastic Social Programme with activities in the evenings and at weekends. Find out more on page 5.
Our modern, air-conditioned school is a lively place, well-equipped with the latest technology to help with your studies. The classrooms are bright with lots of space and there are comfortable areas to relax or do homework as well as a café if you get hungry. There is a large self-study centre with computers for you to use for study outside the classroom. We have a library full of useful books, DVDs and journals with friendly librarians around to help you find what you need.
Some of the facilities in our building include:
• Interactive whiteboards in most classrooms
• Digital ‘language lab’ where you can practise pronunciation
• TV, video and audio facilities in all classrooms
• Large computer centre with free Internet access
• Free wireless Internet access throughout the building
• Library with over 10,000 books and journals
• Café with hot and cold food and drinks
• Dedicated Accommodation Office to help you find somewhere to stay
When the school is busy in the summer time we also use extra classrooms a short walk away from our main building.

How We Teach
what level general english course should i take?
Learning English at IH London is a communicative experience with an emphasis on pair and group work.
Our teachers are passionate about using a variety of methods to help you communicate more confidently and effectively in real-life situations: at work, in your studies and in your daily life. They will give you lots of feedback and support to help you learn the correct vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation.
As IH London is a large school we are able to offer 13 levels of study. We’ll help you to find the right level language course for you. Before you arrive, we will ask you to take an online English test and you will also be interviewed by a teacher on your first day. This means that we can make sure you join the right class for your needs. Remember the minimum age to study English at IH London is 16.
Our teachers will match you closely with students of a similar ability when you start your course. Every four weeks you will have a one-to-one tutorial with your teacher to discuss your next level of study so you are always moving forward.
• Motivating discussions on different topics where teachers can develop your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary
• Practical tasks to give you lots of opportunities to practise new language and improve your speaking skills
• Exposure to a wide range of engaging listening and reading texts
• Project based work such as working on the ih-hi school magazine, designing products, surveys and reports
how will i progress?
one-to-one tuition
To make faster progress with your speaking or writing try adding intensive one-to-one tuition to your General English course. Or if you want to get ready for an exam, combine General English with one-to-one exam preparation. Whatever your goals, our experienced teachers will help you to plan a programme just for you with lessons that are easy to fit around other courses. Choose from Semi-Intensive (3 lessons per day) or Intensive (6 lessons per day) one-to-one courses. You can also book one-to-one tuition by the lesson. One-to-one lessons are 55 minutes each. Find out more in the application form at the back of this brochure.
